I bumped into the place while strolling around Milan and decided to have lunch a few days later because the place seemed very cute. I shared an agetofudon (donburi) and tofu onigirazu with a friend and we we were full by the end of the meal. We paid around 13 euros each which I didn’t think was a lot considering we were in Milan. The onigirazu was really good but the donburi could have more flavour.

The best Japanese onigirazu in Milan - Edit
Contemporary design, friendly staff and good Japanese food. I had Tofu Onigirazu and it was amazing 😍. You can also have vegan ramen (SHIO TOFU RAMEN) or iced vegan ramen (Tofu Ramen Freddo), Haru Salad. The Okinawa Cheesecake is made with coconut and tofu!

Delicious Japanese vegetarian and vegan cuisine - Edit
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Matanē - in addition to the cosy ambience and warm hospitality, the food was outstandingly good. We had the vegan tofu ramen, the vegan donburi (rice bowl) and then a tamago maki which they kindly prepared for us with tofu instead of the egg-omelette. That was incredibly flavourful!

A japanese homemade cuisine with vegan option for every dish in the menù. I had vegan onigirazu and donburi and they were delicious. I had delivery and all the containers were compostable.
