Not remotely safe for vegetarian or vegan diners - Edit
Twice we have been served non-vegan meals when specifically confirming food must be made vegan.
Dining in, we ordered vegan bread which was soaked in ghee/butter. Ordering for takeout, we confirmed multiple times that food must be made vegan but were served entrees with multiple large pieces of chicken/mystery meat.
Both instances resulted in a half hearted apology and general nonchalance. At best this restaurant is careless and loose with their definitions of vegan/vegetarian food but in our experience it seems they make no effort to accommodate dietary restrictions. Proceed with caution.
My bestie and i went for dinner on a Saturday night and were sat right away. The outdoor seating was very nice and it had a colorful umbrella. Our waiter was attentive, the wine was good, and the food was savory with a home made taste. They had a happy cow sticker on the door!
It’s a neat place with good vegetarian options. The only complaint that I have is they don’t open for lunch till 5pm which makes it hard for me to purchase there.
Wonderful place! Great decor and excellent service, would give it 5 stars if it let me, extensive vegan menu but of a much higher quality than your typical Indian eateries. Cauliflower in sauce appetizer and the Punjab chickpea entree were divine (spicy is very spicy so go with medium or mild if you can’t handle the heat) My flesh eating family thoroughly enjoyed the curry chicken and salmon with biryani rice, so everyone was happy! Good portions and very fresh!
My husband and I LOVE Masala Box. We order from there pretty consistently. I love that they have an entire section devoted to vegan friendly dishes. Food is always top quality!
I am so lucky to have Masala Box in my neighborhood. Chef Sumita has an entire page of her menu dedicated to vegan dishes. I love the Gobi Phataka, sweet/spicey/crunchy cauliflower, yummy. Also, can personally recommend the somosa, Bundgobi mutter, Baigan bhurta and kachumber salad.
I ordered the mushroom & peas, cabbage & peas, garlic naan, and samosas. The mushroom & peas and cabbage & peas were okay. Both dishes didn’t have much flavor. The garlic on the naan was overcooked and bitter. The samosas were this restaurant’s saving grace. They were perfectly crisp and bursting with flavor without being too spicy. They were also a decent serving size, 3 big pieces. Would definitely order the samosas again.
I have eaten here several times, and the food is consistently delicious and well-prepared. The vegan options are flagged, and I am confident that what's marked vegan really is vegan, not vegetarian. (This is not always true.) I am particularly fond of dal, and the vegan dal here is always a treat. The breads deserve special mention as well. The presentation is thoughtful and aesthetic. The owner and wait staff are exceptionally accommodating. The restaurant is clean. Although the restaurant is on busy Bell Boulevard, I have never had a problem finding somewhere nearby to park. Highly recommended!
Small restaurant with a clean chic decor. quick service, friendly staff, tasty food. good for groups, options clearly marked. fully stocked bar and open wall seating. parking may be an issue at peak times.
Masala Box is a new style of Indian restaurant with the freshest, cleanest tasting food around. There is something for everyone and an entire page of the menu has vegan and vegetarian options. Their food is always fresh and delicious. This restaurant is family owned and they are extremely welcoming. My favorite vegan dishes there are Baigan Bhurta and Punjabi Chole. There is brown basmati rice and even a vegan gluten free poori bread. I can't rave enough about this place!

Pros: Vegan items marked on the menu
Cons: Served large chunks of meat in a "vegan" dish, Management doesn't seem to care
