Cool environment - Edit
Placed at no. 666 on the street, the interior reflected that - a grungy haunted house mix that was very cool. The wait staff were far from scary however and very attentive. I had the classic burger with salad and a side of fried pickles. The burger patty had the flavour of a moving mountains burger the texture was much less ‘meat like’ which was pleasant. My first experience of fried pickles was also a good one!

Good pub food - Edit
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is a little off putting. Great vegan burgers and milkshakes. I especially liked the mushroom garlic burger because it was their burger. Not just an impossible or beyond party.

Good Food and Good Vibes - Edit
I really enjoyed this place. All of the food I tried was delicious. The Animal Liberation Fries were delicious and made a great starter. The milkshake was good. I thought it had a bit of an aftertaste, but the person I shared it with had no issues. The quesadillas were phenomenal. The wrap had an excellent texture and flavor. I really loved the atmosphere here, and I enjoyed seeing the collection of books that’s you can apparently borrow. Our server was exceptionally friendly, and the decor of the place gives mutual aid and community solidarity vibes. This is a cool little dive. That is definitely worth a visit.

Cool niche vegan spot - Edit
Great restaurant with a groovy sign out front and great food options. My friend and I shared the animal fries (very tasty), the Chopped Cheese (pure savory goodness), the French toast (my new favorite vegan French toast of all time) and their specialty - the Chicken & Waffles. The texture of the “chicken” was super realistic, but unfortunately it was over done. Very hard to cut and kind of hard to chew. I’d like to give it another shot on a future visit to see if it’s any different.

The best vegan spot in town - Edit
I absolutely love Mark of the Beastro. A ton of American favorites done vegan and done right. My favorites are the chopped cheese and the house made vegan wings.

Delicious breakfast sandwich - Edit
I tried the popular breakfast sandwich and was not disappointed. The cheesy topped tofu was soft and delicious and the maple sausage was very flavorful. Was glad it was on an English muffin. Coming from NYC, I found the prices to be very good.

Decent food; fun place - Edit
The vibes were fun and unique - grungy, straight edge, dark, but still family friendly lol. The food was good - but just not as good as I had hoped. Fries were tasty (though very garlicky), buffalo seitan sandwich was great, salad was pretty standard, fried pickles were oddly sweet. Staff was great and prices were fair. I think I just had too high of expectations going in - but really a solid stop (3.5 stars).

Interesting place - Edit
The quesadillas were the highlight. They had sadly run out of their fried chicken. The mozzarella sticks were nice but not quite like a real mozzarella stick, not cheese-like enough. Venue was a bit dirty, lots of grease on the tables from previous guests.

Good food - Edit
The food is really good. The atmosphere imo is lacking. Although dives usually have good food but seem run down. Also there’s no uniforms or required dress for the workers. In general I think that’s great. My husband however did not enjoy his waitress boob water cup. (His cup had been pressed against the waitresses bare cleavage. He mention a possible nsfw scenario that grossed him out.)

This place is made for me!! - Edit
I have been to more vegan places than 99.9% of people you know, including you, and never came across a place with straight edge posters on the walls and straight edge music playing... as a straightedge vegan I would have remembered!! If anyone knows of other vegan straightedge restaurants let me know so I can put them on my travel list.

Yes, I love the vibe of this place but the food is great and totally matches the vibe.

Delightfully sinful - Edit
This is a place to splurge on “fried chicken” and burgers and the less healthy side Of vegan food. I think of this as a treat.
Read moreThe seitan fried chicken was very good.
I had a Buffalo chicken sandwich and our 17 yr old had the chick and waffle.
Large and generous serving sizes and good friendly service. Prices are fair.
I enjoyed the punk rock theme and fun names of both the restaurant and the dishes.

Cool atmosphere and great food - Edit
Even at 69, I found the atmosphere fun and the food was delicious. This is not “health” food. It’s closer to soul food. I had the hash and my sister the chicken pharm sandwich. She kept saying, “This is so good!” Mine was too. It’s always so nice to eat at a totally vegan restaurant. Highly recommend

Awesome French toast and pancakes! - Edit
Apologies for the bad photo, but after spending breakfast time with my family in a non vegan-friendly place I was really hungry and started eating the French toast right away. Besides the French toast, I also had pancakes with chocolate sauce and peanut butter and both were delicious and very well prepared. The service was great, and everything arrived very quickly. The restaurant has a dark/casual atmosphere and decor that I think is really cool. I wanted to try other dishes, but I was feeling full after the pancakes and French toast. I would definitely go back to this place next time I visit Salt Lake City. Really recommend to vegans and non-vegans!

Delicious seitan! - Edit
I had the spicy chkn wrap and it was messy with sauce and full of flavor - just as I hoped it would be. I also really liked the “mozzarella” sticks - had to try the fried hearts of palm. The breading was sooo good - I ate several in the car because I couldn’t wait. The tomato sauce with them was okay, but next time I’ll sub ranch because I’m nasty like that. Next time I’m in town I hope to have time to sit and enjoy my meal in the restaurant and soak up the ambiance - scrappy, comfortable, and welcoming.
