Great But Nothing Special - Edit
I won’t knock this place. They have dedicated vegan and vegetarian menus, and that alone makes it easy for me to eat here. That being said, they don’t offer vegan meat options, there’s no tofu or vegan meat substitutes, only beans. I’ve ordered a limited number of items from here and they have been good, they offer a good selection of items, especially for vegetarians. I don’t get any meat taste in my food which tells me they try to avoid cross contamination.

great Mexican option if you’re in the area! - Edit
My fiancé and I were in the area and decided to stop for dinner. We were seated really quickly and our waitress was really nice and attentive! The separate vegan menu is a big win!
Read moreThe veggie fajitas were really good. This wasn’t on the menu, but it did come with beans, rice, and a salad w/sour cream and guacamole on the side. The beans had cheese on them initially, but when I asked about getting a replacement plate, they did so with no questions! The beans were really good and flavorful after asking for no cheese, and the rice and salad were also great.
Menu could be a little clearer and the parking situation isn’t ideal, but I would definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!

Great tasty food but too salty - Edit
I had the vegan burrito which was great. With that being said if they would cut the salt in half it would be perfect. I do like to eat salty but this was too much even for me. I’ll make sure to tell them next time because the food here is delicious

I reduced my rating from 4 to 3 stars. The reason is that there is no quality control for the food. Last week the food was delicious. I ordered the tamales and the burrito bowl. This week I got the same thing but the burrito bowl was uneditable due to overwhelming salt. They still have the same issue one year later apparently and I forgot to request for low salt.
The tamales were all smushi and not well formed like last time.
I might give them another chance but I won’t become regular.

Slow service - Edit
Waitress was slow, she asked us what we ordered multiple times after ordering. After we ordered a vegan dish it had cheese on it. I don't think the waitress knew what the word vegan means. I don't trust even the vegan dishes because of this, I'm highly doubtful that the vegan dishes are even vegan or vegetarian.

Disappointing... - Edit
After reading positive reviews and comments we were super disappointed. Dedicated vegan menu yes, but nothing special and something I could easily cook better at home. Basically Nachos without cheese, burrito bowl no cheese and swimming in liquid from the beans and lettuce. Burrito just plain and meh and tamales dry and lacking flavour. If you have a dedicated vegan menu why not have some vegan sour cream, crema, vegan cheese or tofu? Ordered top shelf margaritas and way too much sweet and sour mix. Personally(hate to say it) but Chipotle is much better with at least the sofritas option. 4 of us ate here and all agreed that we wouldn’t come back. Maria’s, we appreciate the dedicated vegan menu but it needs a lot of improvement and more imagination in our opinion!

Horrible Experience - Edit
I saw this place pop up on the Happy Cow app and I was excited to try something new close to my job. I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and continued to wait for an additional 40 minutes. The entire time I remained calm, browsing my cell phone waiting for my order. The two staff members walked by time and time again without acknowledging me. When my order was ready the lady came by my table dropped the order on the table with a little force and mumbled have a nice day. I rushed out since my lunch break was clearly almost over. Sat down in the office, took a bite and all of my grilled vegetables tasted like fish. This is a clear indication that all food is cooked on the same grill with other animal products. Maybe this was all my mistake for reading reviews and assuming this place was vegan friendly. Depending on the type of vegan you are this place may do the trick but not for me. I’ll stick to places like Luna’s Living Kitchen, Fern and Bean Vegan Cuisine for my vegan fix in Charlotte.

Tamales 🤤🤤 - Edit
Their tamales are amazing! They come covered in sautéed peppers and onions and this delicious tomato sauce. And they’re three huge tamales for like 8$. LOVE!
