Vegan burger - Edit
Tried the Veggie Burger that is vegan as far as you don’t add the optional cheese. It’s a generous plate with french fries and salad. Vegan and vegetarian options are cleared mark in the menu.

Majorly vegetarian, with vegan options, also they look really committed to explain you what is vegan and what not (tofu is not vegan for some reason) but you have several options

After days of eating different variations of rice and beans, I was thrilled to find Maracutu as there are plenty of vegan options. They had different bowls to choose from with tofu as an option for protein, as well as a vegan spring roll. Vegan options are clearly marked, our server understood the meaning of vegan, and the food was delicious.

Finally, options!! - Edit
After spending a week in Dominical and Uvita with family, most restaurants that were picked had one option for vegetarian and were always a little weird. We finally hit up Maracatu and it was INCREDIBLE! So many options! I went with the lentil burger since it got good reviews and I was not let down! We also tried the pico de gallo and big stuffed burrito. All great options and reasonably priced!

Tasty Lentil Burgers - Edit
The vegan lentil burgers at Maracatu are tasty and very large. They are plated with salad, fries and burger fixings such as lettuce and tomato. If you are hungry and in Dominical, this is a good choice. The smoothies are okay but not the best we have had in the area.
Read moreUnfortunately the wait staff at Maracatu did not seem interested in customer service. We walked into the restaurant and saw a couple wait staff - - they did not greet us but eventually pointed to an open table outdoors. The burgers arrived without a word or a smile. We did get a smile when we paid our bill. The customer service was so unlike our experience at every other restaurant in the Quepos & Dominical area, it is what we will remember about Maracatu.

Relaxing place for luch - Edit
This restaurant in the small community of Dominical with its unpaved roads was a pleasant stop for lunch. The four of us had the veggie burger and beer. The food was fine for lunch after we worked out how to be sure the burgers could be vegan. Service is not what one would call speedy but we were in no hurry. Since the Maracatu is located on the main drag, so to speak, it was good to eat and watch the local scene. The interior of the restaurant was dark and had the look of a nightclub which it is so it is hard to know what things would be like there in the evening.
