Great Burmese restaurant

Vegetarian menu is fully vegan. They're careful with the food, and we've never had cross-contamination issues. If you order the tea leaf salad, make sure to specify vegan so they take out the shrimp.

I typically get:
+ Vegan Tea Leaf Salad
+ Mango salad
+ KaYannThee gyaw (eggplant fritters) - huge eggplant fries, dipped in sweet/sour sauce
+ PePyoke KyetThun Gyaw - yellow beans stir-fried with onions. This one is so creamy and smooth. Pro tip: amazing as leftovers too.

All curries are really good too. Careful with the spice. If you order too spicy, it tends to be tamer the next day.

delicious

as others have said, their vegetarian menu is all vegan. there are about 15ish dishes from there to choose from. i tried V06 and it was great! for most dishes you choose mild medium or hot for spiciness level. the food is a little bit expensive ($16-17 per veg entree), but the portion and quality is good and makes it worth it. going to try V10 next!

Pros: clearly labeled veg options, good quality food

Tasty food from Myanmar

I loved that they have a whole list of ‘vegetarian’ options that happen to be vegan. We got some tofu noodles with a peanut sauce, a deliciously spicy tofu curry, and a dish that consisted of potatoes and green peppers. They gave generous rice portions. Definitely recommend for a hearty veggie meal!

Pros: Vegan friendly menu, Delicious food, Relaxed vibe

Spicy and fantastic

So happy this place reopened! The whole vegetarian menu is also vegan.

This is as of September 2022 take out only, and will remain that way until the huge street construction outside ends.

Awesome food, a perennial favorite in Silver Spring

They are open for take out while Montgomery County is still quarantining! Check out their facebook page for updates about hours/closings. You can order online: https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/mandalay-restaurant-silver-spring
There are a couple parking spaces out front blocked off for carry out. We ordered online, then called when we arrived, and they placed our order in our trunk for us. Super easy!

Food is always awesome. You must get the V6 (wide flat noodles with tofu & yellow beans). I also like the tofu salad. All veg entrees are vegan. If you order a salad, tell them you want it vegan (when ordering online, you just check a box that says "vegetarian" which will make it vegan). Staff is very experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly in general, including when it comes to preparing vegan food.

Pros: Very vegan friendly, Easy to order vegan , Large potions

Great authentic Burmese food

15 vegan entrees! Loads of salads that (with a request to leave out the fish sauce) are vegan and uniquely Burmese! Vegan desserts! A family owned spot with excellent food and service to match. Very authentic, delicious Burmese food. Pay them a visit, for sure!

Pros: So many options!, Great service

Cons: Remember to omit fish sauce!

A Burmese blessing!

Never tried Burmese food? It's a delightfully unique cuisine and Mandalay is the best establishment for Burmese food in the area -- by far. Start out with any of the salads (grated ginger, green papaya and black tea are our favorites) and then just pick anything off the vast menu for a tasty treat.

Pros: Consistently yummy food, Unique cuisine, Low-decibel enviroment

I've never had anything like it

...and I mean that in a good way. I agree with the reviewer who said that the food is a cross between Thai and Indian: Indian-style onion-based curry sauces with Thai spices, samosas that vaguely resemble spring rolls, etc. I really like the food here (try the tofu with sour mustard), the prices are good, and I've never had any problems with the service like the ones mentioned by the other reviewers.

Pros: good food, good prices, nothing else like it

Cons: closed mid-afternoons, not 100% veg., so I can't give 5 cows
