Great bang for the buck - Edit
So many options which are clearly marked. Portions are huge. Open almost any time you're hungry! I especially love the mango juice... Very heavy on the pulp.

Mamoun’s forever - Edit
This is my personal favorite style of falafel: thin, crispy and loaded with fresh veggies and drippy tahini sauce in a grilled pita. I’ve visited this location since the late-90s, and will continue to for years to come. Great to see that they’ve updated the “vegetarian” page of their menu to “vegan” since it’s always been vegan! Also, the majority of the dessert case treats are labeled vegan! Unparalleled hot sauce. No frills dining (paper plates and cups). Highly recommended.

Meh food but lots of options - Edit
I appreciate how many clearly labeled vegan items there were (including in the dessert case). The grape leaves were good. The lentil and onion dish was too greasy for my taste. While I don't know for sure, I imagine most of the vegan labeled dessert items contain honey.

Only good for falafel - Edit
I think their falafel sandwiches are pretty good, but didn’t enjoy the other vegan filling options (salad, eggplant). They either didn’t have much flavor or they had an unpleasant flavor. But the falafel is good!

Lacking flavor - Edit
I want to love Mamoun's. My boyfriend and friends all rave about them, and say they have the best falafel in New Haven (and CT in general).
Read moreTheir seasoned fries are delicious and crispy when they're hot, but all you can taste is an overwhelming amount of grease when they're cold.
The rice in the stuffed grape leaves is mushy and overcooked every time I get them.
The falafel pita is always a soggy mess, and the tahini dressing lacks flavor and it's very watery. Switched to the falafel salad plate, and same issue. Watery, soggy lettuce with the same watery, lackluster dressing. The falafel themselves are fine, but I still can't bring myself to finish the meal since all of the other components lack flavor.
I just don't get the hype.
Pros: Vegan options, Inexpensive
Cons: Lacks flavor

Vegan options are clearly marked, calling in to order is easy but also available online. Seating inside is a little cramped but charming. Very helpful staff

Not good - Edit
The spinach roll was definitely microwaved, totally mushy and rubbery and really difficult to eat. I ordered Turkish coffee and it was the worst tasting Turkish coffee I've ever had, very little flavor - nowhere near the complex and rich Turkish coffee I've had in the past, it tasted like hot water with a little nutmeg, maybe cardamom. The fries were ok. I like their house made hot sauce, it's too bad that's the only thing.

An old favorite - Edit
Mamoun’s is, in my opinion, the best falafel you can get. I’ve been to a couple of their other locations, and the New Haven one is my favorite. The restaurant is entirely dairy free, but does have meat options. This place gets pretty busy, especially later at night on the weekends, but I’ve always had great service and never left disappointed with my meal in the 10 years I’ve been going. Their pumpkin soup is delicious, especially with a little squirt of their *exclusive* hot sauce. Nice atmosphere and open until 2:00 or 3:00AM every day, even holidays!

Best Falafel outside of Montreal! - Edit
We always make a bee line for Mamouns when we are in New Haven. It’s a fantastic place for vegans and omnivores alike. The falafel is actually green inside (as it should be!) and the flavor is amazing with a proper crunch in the outside and zesty lemon, parsley and spices inside. Portions are generous and options are plenty for vegans including kibbeh, daily soups, plates or sandwiches. Love love love this place!

Dirt cheap, plenty of vegan options - Edit
Mammouns is dirt cheap with typical Mediterranean vegan options (falafel, baba, hummus, dolmas, etc.). Their falafal is amazing and we usually order a ton of food since it’s so affordable. The service is quick and very casual. I just really don’t like how they use all disposable one use utensils, cups, and plates.

Delicious and plentiful vegan food - Edit
Great vegan options-- all three soups we're also labelled vegan. Delicious and flavorful dips and perfectly crunchy falafel. Least favorite thing was the pita, it didn't taste homemade like everything else.

favorite place - Edit
My boyfriend and I like to come here every week. This place is amazing. The employees are friendly. The service is always fast. The food is cheap and delicious. Its byob and they have hookah. You can eat inside where there's lots of cool decorations or you can eat outside. There's a small parking lot in the back. Its overall a great place to go to. All of their desserts are vegan too. I would recommend this place to anyone. They offer many vegan selections and also meat if you're bringing someone who isn't vegan. This place is wonderful.

If I could vote for only one place with a review.. - Edit
If I could vote for only one place with a review... that place would be Mamouns. Since becoming vegan, this place is consistently amazing. I have even gone so far as to drag my family here from Bristol two days in a row for their amazing Baba Ganoush, Falafel and Hummus.
Read moreOne half of the menu is vegan, there really is no sense in me saying anyting else. Take it from me - Mamouns is my pick for fast vegan faire weather I'm in New Haven or not.

Cheap reliable falafel place with half-veg menu - Edit
This was the first place I ever ate in New Haven 9 years ago, and I still keep going back for its reliably awesome falafel, hummus, tabouleh, and ful mudammas. Sandwiches are incredibly cheap - like, under $5 cheap. 1 sandwich is a good light meal, while 2 sandwiches or a platter will fill those with a larger appetite.
Read moreThis place seriously feels like you're in another country, in the Middle East somewhere. The walls are covered in rugs, the biggest chandelier I've ever seen dominates the ceiling, and the food is unbelievably cheap. Homemade mint iced tea is great; the tabouleh is actually parsley-dominant, which is a nice change of pace; and small desserts like baklava and halva are great to grab on your way out the door after you pay your bill at the counter.
Open til 3am, definitely worth checking out, and much better than the other Middle Eastern place you'll pass on the way down Howe Street (Kasbah Garden), who seem to think it's okay to serve tahini that tastes like peanut butter. Also a pleasant place to sit at 2 small outdoor tables in nice weather.
Pros: so cheap!
