Excellent separate vegan menu - Edit
I had the combo bánh hỏi (rice noodle) to-go but was given the beef version instead. It had a lot of flavor and was quite spicy, which I loved, so I wasn’t terribly upset that it wasn’t the combo version.
Read moreMy husband had the hủ tiếu (noodle soup) which had a ton of tofu and a flavorful broth that wasn’t overly salty or sweet like it is at so many other restaurants.
As a bonus, the seating area is clean, modern and well-decorated.
We are looking forward to our next visit!
P.S. to EshaG: Don’t expect Thai food; this is a Vietnamese restaurant.
Pros: Separate vegan menu - hooray
Cons: Kitchen messed up one order

Nice for options but be wary - Edit
I’ve gone here about 5 times and always wish I had gone to arayas instead. I’ve had the waiter serve us food he just took off someone else’s table. The food is not the best Thai food but the separate vegetarian menu is nice. Some of the vegan labeled options are not actually vegan though, so make sure to be careful. For example, the vegan sandwich has non-vegan mayo on it.

Flavorful, fresh, generous portions - Edit
We had the vegan pork and vegan chicken sandwiches. They were big and filling and had plenty of fresh veggies and flavorful faux pork and chicken. Both sandwiches were delicious. The prices were excellent, too. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more items!

I’ve had Vietnamese food before but this was the best I’ve had. Delicious lemongrass tofu, huge portion for the $, tasteful decor (though I didn’t stay and eat there—got takeout). Fast service, friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Birthday dinner success - Edit
Went for my birthday after my bro raved about it and was so impressed. All the dishes were delicious. We ordered the stir fried rice noodles with the combination vegan beef, chicken and tofu. I also tried the vegan fried rice and vegan Phad Thai. All so good!

Lovely vegan/veg menu - Edit
I really liked the vegan lemongrass tuna, although the lemongrass flavor was quite subtle. The spring rolls were superb, and my dining companion enjoyed his noodles with lemongrass “chicken”.

Vegan Vietnamese in the heart of the U-District - Edit
Mama's Viet Kitchen is bright, clean, friendly, inexpensive side, and serves up familiar Vietnamese favorites like Banh Mi and pho. They have a complete vegetarian menu which is almost exclusively vegan--about 30 items.
Read moreWe had two different lemongrass curries--one with seitan and one with tofu, and both were great. Full seal of approval from my wife, who is Vietnamese.
Pros: friendly staff, good value, tasty food
Cons: also has meat items
