Awesome Femake Chef - Michilin Worthy - Edit
Ms. Malaika is an amazing creative chef - I truly believe that when a woman cooks , there is more love in the food .
Read moreShe accommodated my gluten intolerance , and low fat diet and created a wonderful multi course meal.
I was expecting just a hole in the wall and was so very surprised at the quality only matched for me by the famous vegan restaurant Ark .
The Indian bread was amazing combined with - low oil served with cassava and beet, chickpea curry .,
There was a breathtaking morninga Angel hair pasta .. a no sugar carrot cake - to die for . A Lucious salad that I could not describe as a cross between a classical Roquefort salad meets avocado toast .
A watermelon tower as an appetizer with a beautiful pesto and lemongrass purée .
Apparently, there is no menu and each evening is unique.,
The chef is really a creative superstar , that is also designing her own clothing-line.
Ms. Maliaika Aguana and her health conscious ways makes her a true Gem on this island . Bravo
Pros: creativity and I felt the love , ambience - its her house and tbete is an amazing, the attention to your needs make you feel t
Cons: big table was a bit too broght for me .

Truly delicious raw cakes - Edit
I love that Malaika has reopened after Covid, it's moved to a smaller place right on the beach at Sanur & is called Lemon Beach Cafe, still with a Malaika sign. We discovered it just before leaving Sanur, so only had a slice of their legendary cake, freshly made warm potato chips & pure love Kombucha, all of which were fantastic. There's even healthy grocery items available & skincare.

Bit of a random set up. Average food. - Edit
The restraunt is a bit random. An unusual set up on the 1st floor, with not much atmosphere and very hot. Was no space in the ground floor, which has AC.
Read moreMenu had several options for vegan, with a seperate section. I ended trying to order a variety of different drinks (lemongrass tea and also a soda), but they didn't have either!. Which is weird and they should have if on the menu. Not difficult to obtain. Food wasnt too bad, but servings small and for the location (a bit off the main sanur area), the prices were quite high.

Cosy place, food ok - Edit
This restaurant has a lovely setting. The ground floor has AC but the 1st floor only have fans. I went for lunch and asked to eat on the 1st floor despite the high temperature, because it looked more appealing to me. The food is ok, I ordered the soup of the day (yeah, a soup with 30° inside, I know) and a brushetta. Not the best food I had in Bali, but you must explore the menu...

THE BEST VEGAN FOOD EVER - Edit
Every time I have visited Sanur Bali over the past 3 years I regularly visit Malaika’s. The food is so beautifully presented and the taste even better. My personal favourite and go to is the vegan gyozas to start and the vegan garden sandwich (55k) for the main. This includes a stack of grilled eggplant & zucchini, avocado sauce and tomato concase within toasted homemade pumpkin bread. There are loads of vegan options along with some poultry and seafood dishes. The vegan desserts are so delicious. All of the food is so fresh and of a high quality. It is value for money decent portions with a decent price!
Read moreThe staff are super friendly and helpful I can’t recommend this place enough. They even provide cooking classses if you ask (I have done two and I loved them) It’s sort of tucked away from the main drag which is a shame many people don’t know about it because it truely is hidden gem. Try it for yourself and see! :)

I m not sure i’ve been served vegan food - Edit
Not sure about vegan items.. menu is confusing. staff is lovely. Food is average, very salty. Decor is very empty (perhaps putting a small plant/flower/salt-pepper on the tables would make it more cosy). There was nice enjoyable live music (after having listened to the 45 seconds demo keyboard song about 50 times..)

OK, tasty, nothing to rave about really - Edit
I was so very much looking forward to going here, and while the experience was quite pleasant, it's not really a 'go back to often' place for me. I had tempe curry, soursop juice and key lime pie. The curry was very tasty, tho way too much tempe and not enough of anything else in it.. 38,000rupiah..one of the cheapest things on the menu. The soursop juice was great 30,000rupiah. The key lime pie was a tiny piece and very stale 35,000. The staff are lovely, the decor is gorgeous and comfortable. I was happy to have had the experience, but there are similar and better places around.

Raw vegan section! - Edit
I was thrilled to see a living/raw vegan section in the menu! I had the Iron juice it had spinach and spirulina and other things that i cant remember. I also had the raw lasagna, and the raw zucchini pasta. I liked the raw lasagna more but both were good, simple, fresh and alive! I wanted to try something that was basically watermelon and v cheese, it looked strange and intriguing but i was already full. Hopefully there would be more raw options in the future!

the tempeh sandwich is a must! ✨ - Edit
I visited for the second time in Oct '17. Vegan food is prepared in a separate kitchen. The food is delicious and pure, no junk, and organic. I like the location and interior of the place. Great quality, and very inexpensive. The owner is a lovely woman. Definitely try out the tempeh sandwich, gyoza, the juices(especially the one with soursop), and the desserts! I was not so fond of other savory dishes like the Gado Gado.

Lovely restaurant tucked away from the main street - Edit
Me and my boyfriend had a delicious dinner here on our last evening in Bali. We had nasi goreng and tempe curry with vegan naan, and everything was absolutely lovely. For dessert we shared a blueberry cheesecake that was more or less mind-blowingly good. The staff was very friendly and attentive and happy to answer questions.

It was alright - Edit
Me and my boyfriend came here for lunch. They didn’t have both the drinks I wanted so I had to settle for a sprite. I ordered the soy sandwich because as a vegan sometimes you just crave a good sandwich. My boyfriend ordered the nasi goreng. I now wish I ordered the same as him. The crisps the sandwich came with were stale. Either the sauce or the soy patty tasted like how nail polish remover smells, very chemically. It was also so big it was impossible to eat with your hands. Would come again but would order something different.

poor Gado-gado - Edit
Perhaps I was just unlucky but the gado gado I had was disappointing - a tiny pile of soggy lettuce with about 5 small tempeh cubes in a sauce that lacked any spice. Drinks were nothing to shout of and the service incredibly slow although the place was rather empty.
Read moreOn the plus side the desserts are absolutely delicious and the semi-open building is uniquely beautiful and catches the late afternoon sun. Unfortunately it is located right on a busy road.

5* vegan options - Edit
We would have rated this a 5 star however the app would only allow us to give 4.
Read moreThe service was great, the waiter was friendly and allowed us enough time to order. The drinks were nice, best mojito I've ever had.
The food was presented very well, probably the best way we've had food presented in a restaurant. I had the veggie burger which was nice, the crisps it came with were very bland and unnecessary. My boyfriend had the Tempe curry with sticky rice, it was presented in a coconut bowl. The food was very tasty.
All the deserts were vegan which was great, I had the chocolate cake which was lovely my boyfriend agreed even though he doesn't usually like chocolate. He had the lemon cheesecake which was equally as good.
Would recommend
Pros: the presentation , nice environment , good quality food
Cons: blood , blood , blood on their hands

great vegan and vegetarian find - Edit
This restaurant has fish and chicken options on the menu but is heavily geared towards vegan and vegetarian food. The menu is extensive, consisting of Indonesian and Indian food. My boyfriend and I had the thali, tempur curry and a noodle dish with extra naan (we were hungry). The desserts are all vegan and made without sugar. We were given a selection of tasters and opted for the key lime pie which was exquisite.

I wonderful place - Edit
It's about a ten minute walk up from the main strip, but well worth it. The place had a healthy number of raw/vegan and vegetarian options (there were some meat dishes as well). The owner and chef was there during the evenings and you could tell the place was made from love. I had the Eggplant Lasagna (vegan) and the (vegan) gyoza. The price was cheap (relatively speaking) and the food was very refined. I highly recommend.
