Vegan menu gone - Edit
The vegan menu posted earlier is gone. The wine was super expensive. We left.

It's a family business, Mai being Vietnamese and Jo Portuguese. - Edit
All the dishes my friend and I have eaten at Mai Jo, whether ordered in advance or chosen from the menu on the day, were fresh and delicious, including vegetarian/vegan dishes, which are also their speciality, and desserts of crème caramel and crème brulée.
Read morePrices are extremely reasonable, if very slightly more expensive than some other restaurants in the village. But the food is so much better.
We were extremely well looked after each time we ate here, and will definitely be regular customers on our next visit to Phu Quoc.

Expensive but very good - Edit
This place is very expensive for Vietnam, but the quality of the food is also very good. If you are looking for restaurants in this area, you are probably staying in one of the resorts in Ong Lang – the prices at the restaurant of our resort were almost as high, but with much smaller portion sizes. I had the yellow curry, for 190k if I remember correctly. It was very tasty, one of the best dishes I had in Vietnam. They would have had several other vegan options, too. If you eat here, you also receive a free wet hand towel and free amuse-bouche, also good service.

Super cool that there is a separate vegan section on the menu. Everything very delicious, a bit more expensive than local food of course.

Delicious but expensive - Edit
There are clearly marked vegan options and the waitress spoke English and knew what vegan meant. We told her to add a vegan dessert to the menu because they don't currently have any. We had eggplant and curry and both were delicious and big enough portions to fill our hungry bellies!

Slow service, high price, poor food - Edit
Many vegetarian options on the menu but few were vegan/ actually available. Despite there only being 1 other table in the restaurant, the food took over 1 hour to arrive (including fresh rolls).
Read moreWhen the food did eventually get to us, it did not match the description on the menu.
Burger cheese slices were used within the veggie lasagne and one veggie lasagne came with just layers of pasta and no filling. We ended up paying 300k VND for this... incredibly disappointing.
Plastic straws were given to us when we asked not to have them.
Pros: Some staff spoke English
Cons: Slow service, poor quality food, lack of options , Plastic straws , Expensive

Beautifully presented food - Edit
The first time we visited we were turned away as they were so busy so it might be wise to book. We returned the next evening and had a lovely meal. The juice eS great and I had a tasty vegan coconut curry that was presented on a golden tray with a crusty baguette! It was really delicious and creamy.

Good food - Edit
The restaurant is super busy and we were lucky to get a table. The food was super tasty as well, we had two starters and the vegan combo. They told us that the food would be out in about an hour, bit we were in no rush and it also came before hand. We paid just under 1 million, but we also had too much food, so it's more of treat but not like a fine dining place. Afterwards you can go for a beer in the drunkn monkey bar next to it

Loved it, will go back. - Edit
I loved this place. They had a decent selection of vegan items on the menu. I tried the vegan Banh Xeo (called rice pancake on the menu). The staff was very friendly and helpful, prices were higher than at some other places but the flavors were lovely.

Amazing food, great people. - Edit
This doesn’t look like the obvious choice but of you go through the menu you can find loads of amazing vegan (& vegetarian) options. I ate myself through all the vegan options and they were all incredible. A must try is the Vegan Curry though, which is spectacular.

Nice vegan selection - Edit
Nice selection of vegan dishes here. While not a super long list, it was hard to decide as all the options sounded delightful. We went with the slow cooked eggplant and the caramelized tofu. Both were super tasty.
Read moreWe enjoyed that the meals both came with a salad on top of garlic fried rice. Staff spoke great English. Prices are a bit on the high side but we felt it was worth it, especially to get away from the vegan buffet style restaurants in town. It was nice to have some freshly prepared food made to order.

Fantastic find in Phu Quoc - Edit
It's a bit out of the way but you will be well rewarded for venturing out here. Laid back with a very helpful owner who will point out the vegan dishes on their separate vegetarian menu. Food is prepared fresh and serving size is big. My noodles with caramelised tofu and herbs was fantastic, and my omni husband loved his omni banh mi. Definitely recommend this place.
