Amazing Vegan Soft Serve Pies - Edit
I have been blown away by my new favorite, the Pistachio Baklava Softserve Pie (Vegan). I wasn't sure the combination of flavors would really be my jam, but I couldn't stop eating it.
Read moreThe website describes it as: "Pistachio Baklava softserve layered with fudge, candied pistachios & almond pound cake & topped with whip cream & pistachio crumble in a chocolate crust." The combination really works. I love a chocolate crust, and maybe it was just my imagination, but sometimes I could taste coffee notes as well, which made the crust all the more interesting. The thin chocolate sauce layer on top of the crust was a nice added detail. The almond cake layer was delicious, and wasn't too fluffy nor too dense. The star of this dessert for me was the candied pistachios!!! I hope they bring this flavor back again and again. Or maybe even do different candied nuts variations. The salt level was perfect for this dessert, which I appreciate as someone who enjoys salty and sweet.
I also tasted the Yuzu soft serve, but it was too sour for my palate.
I discovered Magpies maybe a year or two ago, and was first hooked by The Original Fried Softserve Pie. However, it was too sweet the most recent time I got it, but that was many months ago. I definitely will give it another try though and hope it was just one-off.
Parking can be hard since the lot is small, so I always try to go during off-peak times.
I also bring a cooler and lots of ice packs since I live an hour away, but Magpies freezes the slices real hard, and they are always perfectly thawed when I get home.
I am vegan and very much appreciate the plentiful vegan options! Thank you, Magpies!

Read moreThe soft serve is NEXT LEVEL - I had the brownie dough and corn almond swirl. Wow. The corn almond tasted like breakfast corn flakes and milk. Inspired.
The pies are kinda pre/made and give off wholefoods delicatessen energy. My partner who ordered the pie has just started on his pie whilst I write this review because it needed time to melt.
But overall, this over pinkberry (which is 2 mins down the road)

Not all of their toppings or ice creams are vegan, but they have an excellent range. I tried the red velvet soft serve, and it tasted 100% like cake batter.

magpie's is the besssst. it's a lil pricey but worth the treat! they change out their flavors regularly and they are always interesting (corn almond?). i've also tried their drumstick pie & it was INSANELY good. they have dairy options here too, so be mindful when ordering!

I chose the Roasted Strawberry mixed with the Corn Almond and it was delicious. I actually wish I only got the Corn Almond flavor because the strawberry was overpowering and I really enjoyed the Corn Almond flavor more. Highly recommend if you're a corn lover like me.

Magpies is the only "good" soft serve ice cream I've ever had- you know how you lived on those Dairy Queen or McDonald's cones when you were little, and they were mostly cold filler ingredients? Magpies will blow your mind with a rotating menu including vegan flavors like Black Sesame, Corn Almond, Salted Banana Caramel, and Ube Coconut. I also recommend the vegan chocolate hard shell, which, again, is like the chocolate dip at Dairy Queen except for delicious and well-made. They're famous for their ice cream pies, like the vegan fried pie, which are layers of ice cream, toppings, and candy. Amazing. They are open for pickup and takeout! Order ahead online to make it super easy!

Hands down, this is the best vegan soft serve in Southern California. The service is excellent and they keep the ever-present line moving quickly. The portions are generous, delicious, and will fool the dairy-eaters in your life. The only drawback is that the flavors have become a little predictable and stagnant lately. Total bonus for the vegan “magic shell” and the customer loyalty program!

Used to patronize this place frequently but when I inquired about their nutritional info they don’t have it...I have a feeling it’s very high caloric, sugar and fat. Didn’t find staff or owners friendly. Sorry to report this but many of us are vegan for health reasons also.

The day I went, 4 of the 8 flavors available were vegan. They update their website with the flavors that are available each day. They also label their toppings with what’s vegan, including vegan fudge sauce. My not-vegan husband ordered vegan flavors as well and claimed it was the best soft serve he’s ever had! My favorite was holiday nog, but I have a feeling that’s strictly seasonal.

Such creamy and smooth vegan soft serve ice cream! Not icy at all like some others can be. The sweet corn flavor tasted similar to caramel and was really delicious! Toasted coconut flakes and vegan chocolate sauce were the perfect toppings to make it a true sundae! Although the we had to wait in a long line it was totally worth the wait, but what can you expect for a summer evening! The service was amazing and the owners were super friendly! Can't wait to go back again!
