Possibly labeling non vegan donuts as vegan and did not have all of the food options I saw online - Edit
I came here and saw donuts with fruity pebbles on top labeled as vegan, plus Cinnamon Toast Crunch donuts labeled as vegan. I know that fruity pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are not vegan because of the vitamin D3 in it. I asked the cashier if it’s regular cereal or if it’s a vegan version of the cereal and she said “I don’t know”. There was also vegan pizza listed online which they didn’t have, plus they only had 4 flavors for vegan milkshakes but they had at least 10 listed online. The only vegan food options were fries and a burger. I asked what the burger is and it’s a beyond burger, which I don’t like. I ended up getting fries and a milkshake and neither were good. I felt sick after I drank half my milkshake and didn’t finish it. It made me wonder if they used real dairy, but I don’t know.
Read morePros: Has at least one vegan option
Cons: Can’t answer questions about the ingredients , Has way less than what is listed online , Fries and milkshake tasted bad

Fantastic vegan burger! - Edit
Absolutely loved their vegan burger and waffle fries although they were a bit over salted. Excellent option if you're looking for a vegan burger and want to support a local business!

Has Gone Downhill - Edit
When Luther Burger first opened, they were wonderful, but unfortunately they have gone downhill in recent years.
Read moreYou can expect to wait a LONG time for your order, so they're no longer a good option for a quick lunch. Fries come out soggy and cold. Food is served in "to-go" packaging, even if you're eating in the restaurant. Orders are frequently incorrect.
The "vegan wings" are just regular old Morningstar vegan chicken nuggets, but they'll cost you almost $9, which is highway robbery.
I also found some of the owner's responses to critical reviews online to be snarky and off-putting.
It's such a bummer for Luther Burger to have lost its former glory, because they used to be a great place to get a vegan burger, or to bring a mixed group of vegans and non-vegans.
Pros: Great if you have a time machine to 2018
Cons: Long wait for food, Cold, soggy fries, 50/50 chance your order will be correct

Hoping the third time is a charm? - Edit
We have heard so many wonderful things about Luther Burger from friends, family and co-workers alike. Which is why we were so very disappointed when we had unpleasant experiences both times we have ventured there so far.
Read moreThe good: I'll preface this by saying that I really do admire and appreciate this establishment. Not only do they have a large offering of both vegan and non-vegan foods (which are prepared on dedicated/separate equiptment to avoid cross contamination) but vegan and non-vegan items are very clearly marked on the menu. Great selection of items, friendly staff. It's really something to be able to go out with both vegan and non-vegan friends and find a restaurant where everyone can be happy and satisifed. We need more establishments like this! Kudos to Luther Burger in that respect.
Here's the bad: The first time, they got the order wrong. Phoning in a to-go order from work, I had asked for a plain (vegan) burger. The woman taking my order asked: "You sure you don't want anything on it?" I said "Nope, just a plain burger, please." I assumed that to mean no lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo etc. Usually, I always take time to check my order before leaving. Unfortunately, the order had taken so long to complete and my lunch break was almost over. So, I took the bag and left. Upon arriving back at work, I opened the bag and found a lonely burger patty. No bun. Nada. I was pretty bummed. But having worked many years as both a server and a line cook, I completely understand that things can (and often do) go wrong in the food service industry. So I shrugged it off and let it slide.
The next time, we placed an order for three burgers to-go. It was a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived at the designated pick-up time (about 30 minutes later) both the parking lot and restaurant were virtually deserted. We checked in and let them know we were there to pick up, however they informed us it wasn't ready yet. An additional 35 minutes elapsed. Finally, the order came out. We were so disapppinted that the burgers were not only cold, but severely burned, served with brown/ wilted lettuce and the buns were completely smashed in. I will say that the fries were very good and I enjoyed the different dipping sauces.
I do hope that the third time will be a charm. I want to love Luther Burger so much!
Pros: Friendly staff, Dedicated equiptment, Clearly marked menu with options for all
Cons: Orders typically take a long time , Food quality

Luther Burger - Edit
1st of all get into the Name they’re a burger joint named after Luther Vandross🔥🔥. Really quick and efficient service in “New World 2020” I’ve gone in and picked up and ordered online. You get points for dollars spent and I got a free milkshake like my first visit. The only thing Vegabbon their menu I’m not a fan of is there seasoned fries. I want to love them so bad so far I’ve tried the Dragons Breath and Cajun French Fry seasonings. Ohh they also have Vegan Donuts
Read morePros: Vegan Burgers, Hot Dogs and Chicken Sandwich, Amazing Vegan Toppings , Really Good Vegan Shakes and Donuts

Best vegan burger!!! - Edit
My husband & I tried this burger & now we finally have a burger place that we can say 100% was awesome!! Its hard to find a good burger thats vegan. We have tried several other places but were disappointed with the burgers. Luthers pairs the perfect bun with this burger & the toppings were very fresh.👍

Great burger place - Edit
There a few places selling the Impossible Burger but as a vegan your limited to just the vegan patty.
Read moreHere comes Luther Burger to the rescue! Get that vegan burger with vegan bacon and vegan cheese! Now that’s what I’m talking about!! Hopefully other restaurants around southside dabbling in veganism will step up their vegan game!
If your looking for a vegan version of a nice thick juicy burger this isn’t it. Luther is trying to recapture the dinner style burger, the old flat top quarter pounder delicious burger goodness served in a basket! If your a vegan who misses those traditional milkshakes and greasy diner burgers, you will love Luther Burger.
They use Impossible Burger products. They have vegan cheese and a vegan tempeh bacon. Is the vegan tempeh bacon on as realistic as the vegan burger? Not at all. Still it’s hard not to appreciate what they’ve done here and root for their success.
Vegan mayo would be nice but I’m thrilled with what their offering.
I try really hard to eat oil free plant based foods but I’m willing to let my guard down for Luther!
Pros: Great vegan comfort food , Rare vegan choice for southside, Vegan cheese!
Cons: Been a few times. Service has been slow at times, Not sparkly clean but acceptable

Vegan chix, fries, donuts, & beer. - Edit
Got the vegan spicy chicken sandwich special with carne asada waffle fries, Legends Brown Ale, and vegan French toast donut. Vegan sauces were amazing. Sandwich was crispy, spicy and incredibly tasty. Beer was cold and donut airy and moist. Omni family very happy with meat options.

Great! (When they get order right) - Edit
Had to change from 4 stars to 2 a year after first review.
Read moreCalled in my order a little after 9pm. Just a vegan big Lu. (vegan Big Mac but middle bread is a donut) Nothing custom about it just the burger. No fries or anything else. Was in a rush and food was ready. So I paid and grabbed the burger and left only to get home 40 miles away and opened it and it was a single burger with everything on it. There was no “v” on the wrapper so I didn’t know if it was a vegan burger with vegan cheese (cheese was very melted like dairy cheese). This was my 2nd favorite spot to get vegan food in the richmond area. I’ve never had this problem, it’s so disappointing. So i left a tip and everything and paid $11 for a single burger (no donut bun or anything)
Pros: Vegan options are marked with a V, Good food, Milkshakes
Cons: Didn’t get my order right., Staff not too friendly

best vegan burger I’ve ever had - Edit
This place knows how to make a greasy delicious burger. I find vegan burgers tend to be dry or trying to be healthy, but this place isn’t like that at all. This place knows how to do it right. They also have tons of vegan milkshake options!! I got the coffee one and it was delicious. Already can’t wait to come back!!

smashed and small - Edit
The vegan burger was small with yellow lettuce on it. I’m not sure why they smash the bun, both times I tried it, it came this way. Why are they using store bought ingredients (burger, daiya cheese, etc) when they should make their own. I could make this at home, only way better. Fresca’s burgers are way better, I recommend going there instead.

Great option - Edit
I have visited Luther Burger twice and was pleased each time. For the 2nd visit, two omnivore family members enjoyed their vegan lunch which included a burger, waffle fries and milkshake. Luther Burger is a great option when visiting with omnivore family/friends since you can introduce them to a variety of vegan foods.

Friendly staff, excellent vegan burgers and shakes, and it’s attached to a donut shop. What more could you ask for?
Read moreParking is very limited and there was a decent line but it was 100% worth the wait. Once we ordered, the food was out surprisingly quick considering how busy it was.
Lots of vegan fry flavoring options. The vegan cheese on the burger was not my favorite. Whatever sauce they give you with the fries is the bomb.
Can’t wait to go back!
