Nice restaurant, limited vegan options

This place is upscale and has a nice ambience. They have a separate vegetarian menu, which is nice, but there are unfortunately very few vegan options. If I recall correctly, there was only one vegan entree and no vegan desserts. There were a few salads and apps that could be made vegan, though. I enjoyed the eggplant salad a lot.

Cons: Limited vegan options

Up-scale, veg friendly.

There is a separate vegetarian menu when you ask. If you're vegan the pickings are slim, but the wait staff was very polite and worked to help find a suitable dish. I ended up getting sweet potato hummus with veggies as an app and veg broth, with roasted veggies as a main dish. It was really delicious but the menu changes seasonally. Call for reservations and if vegan ask what your options are for the evening. Friendly, comfortable environment.

Pros: Separate Vegetarian Menu, Friendly waitstaff will accomodate

Cons: No vegan marked dishes

Silver anniversary dinner

The day of our 25th anniversary was a beautiful spring day we spent together with just our dogs. For dinner we went to the Lumber Yard (yes, two words) in Amherst, a place in an adjacent town we hadn't yet tried. Overall, a very nice experience with the food, the service, and the ambience.

There is a separate vegetarian menu, though we had to ask for it. The menu changes approximately every month, so you'll be able to visit occasionally and have some variety.

The food choices are unique. We had a rutabaga appetizer, gnocchi, two-way eggplant, and dessert. My wife is fairly choosy about food, and her only complaint was that while the taste of the gnocchi dish was superb it was a little over-cooked. I'm only picky about dessert, and was quite happy. One more note about the food is that the portions are reasonable instead of only fit for gluttons.

The feeling you get here is almost like a small bistro in France or Spain. You come to enjoy your meal and your companion. There is a bar area separated from the dining area, and I believe live music once a week, so plan your visit to either enjoy or avoid that scene.

Definitely a place to try.

Pros: Unique and tasty food, Superb staff, Sophisticated overall

Cons: None to speak of
