I will say that I have only been here once, but I was so bothered by my visit that I probably will not return.
Read more-The pricing on the food is a little high for what you get. No refills on drinks (or at least none were offered). I had the street corn style avocado toast. The toast itself was very tasty and I was excited that they were able to make it vegan. However, the picture on the menu shows two pieces and I only received one. The breakfast potatoes lacked any spice and the serving size was smaller than I'd expect. So overall, I was disappointed in the serving size for what you're paying.
-The experience that our server gave us was really frustrating/upsetting. I am in my mid-30s and am nonbinary. I present as rather nonbinary. I was literally wearing a shirt with the nonbinary flag and pride flag sandals. I have a very gender-neutral haircut. I was there with my friend who is a woman a few years older than me. Our waiter referred to us as "girls" the entire time. And not just when greeting us... EVERY. TIME. Even if I did identify as female, I would have found this offensive, as we would both be ADULT WOMEN and this is weirdly infantilizing. As a nonbinary person, I found it really upsetting. I wasn't going to say anything but as we were leaving our server called us girls again. Something like "have a good day, girls." So I turned around and let them know that they had misgendered me for our entire meal and that using "girls" for grown women might be something they want to reconsider doing anyway. The response the server had was something along the lines of "right on, right on" and they tried to fist bump me. No apology, no real understanding. I said "no thank you" and left. I am really not particularly sensitive about being assumed to be female. But the gendering from this server was so constant that it really annoyed me. It's just really unnecessary to use gendered service language in 2021. I hope that this server took what I said more seriously than they seemed to at the time.

Instead of correcting her in the beginning, knowing she meant no offense, you waited until the end and went off on her and then proceeded to come on here and say that the restaurant was not queer friendly. I've made an error misgendering and was politely corrected. Being vegan is about having compassion for all, not just animals. Just saying...

In no way did I 'go off' on the server (I never would). I can see how my wording may have made it sound otherwise. I asked if I could speak with them and calmly explained why the excessive gendering had been harmful and suggested that they reconsider it in the future. We still tipped well. I will also point out that I intentionally never gendered the server in my post. I have edited the "Not Queer Friendly" to more accurately reflect my personal experience with the lack of queer friendliness. The gendering was truly excessive in a way I have never experienced before or since and, again, it would have bothered me even if I did identify as female.
