We loved the Vegan Special which is not only fully vegan, but also gluten free. One of the only places in San Diego with authentic gluten free injera. #Veganuary

My choice is vege (menu lists as vegetarian; though the owners assure me it's actually vegan) combo of 6 items, gomen wot (chopped collards), atkilt alitcha (spiced cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes), miser alitcha (green lentils), miser wot (spicy red lentils), kik alitcha (yellow split pea stew). Served with side salad, house made injera (bread) & yellow rice.
Lentils & veggies well cooked & seasoned, without being over done. Light, fluffy rice.
Gluten free injera available on request.
The soothing smells & platter presentation of the food had us enjoying it immediately. Almost forgot to photograph the food!
Spiced teas are available, but the sweetener offered was honey. Water suited me just fine.
Lovely decor.
Wonderful owners. Mostly Ethiopian servers; suggest patience with ordering.

Food was delicious. Great vegan options. I recommended. Tried asking for oil free options but they probably just didn’t see my request for that. Some portions were fatty and spicy. Nevertheless it was still a good experience.

Great food, awful service - Edit
The food was delicious, and there were surprisingly tons of options but the service was absolutely awful. I had to get waiters attention to get my menu, it once did anyone ever check on me to see how I was doing and then I had to flag someone down to get the check. The waiter was too busy having tea in the back to be bothered to be helpful. If they change the waitstaff then I would give a 5 star review

The Best! - Edit
Lucy has several vegetarian and vegan items on the menu. You can ask for the vegan menu. They will cook oil-free on request. The food is terrific. The ambiance is lovely, the service is very cordial, it's very reasonable. We love it and try to eat there as often as possible.
