Easy to find, OK food - Edit
Not bowled over by the quality of the food, but it's really easy to find and also has a little stall in the corner selling veggie / vegan food provisions.
Read moreStaff are very friendly and speak great English.
The Supreme Master TV isn't all that annoying (maybe they learned a lesson or two by reading Happy Cow reviews!).
I did notice ants crawling over the floor though..
Pros: Location, Friendly staff
Cons: Ants

Nice all-vegan place - Edit
Food is tasty, normal Chinese vegetarian selection. Mock meat is always great, but I think you can find same options in most vegetarian restaurants in Beijing. But Loving Huts are the safest way to get vegan food in China, I think.
Read moreVery tasty fish, but the chicken was more beef-like than chicken (I am talking about the other vegan chickens I have eaten in China, I don't know what real chicken is like). Not too oily for me. They serve water with food, which is nice compared to usual tea they have in many restaurants.
Staff are really nice, and speak English well. The menu was also in English, although it had some weird things like a dessert called "awfj" (or something like that).
As in almost all Loving Hut's, there is Supreme Master tv in this restaurant also. Usually I don't mind, although I'm not so fond of Ching Hai. But here it was hard not to watch the tv since it was so loud. Usually they have it muted.
Close to the embassy area, which was great for me since I had to go there lots of times. There is also nice park called Ritan park nearby. The restaurant is easy to find, just walk north from the Yong'anli subway station.
Pros: easy to find, fish and desserts; food cheap but good, nice staff and atmosphere
Cons: SM tv too loud

fake meaty, oily, goodness - Edit
i think most people know what to expect from a supreme master restaurant - cheap, vegan food with loads of fake meat. which some people actually think is a bad thing! strange!
Read morethis particular one was just as tasty, although we kinda wanted something not fried to go with our fried everything. had an awesome vegan tirimisu for pud & my partner had some amazing mango sorbet/ice cream dessert. the staff were nice too.
also, a great place to go if you are travelling - they have a little stall in the corning selling packets of cheap vegan instant noodles, and some packets of vacuum packed fake meat in sauce which doesn't need to be refrigerated. also some vitamins and healthy stuff i think.

Sweet people, diverse menu, Suma Ching Hai on TV - Edit
My taxi driver couldn't find the place, but one of the kind staff members of Loving Hut came out (in the rain!) to find my cab and bring me back to the restaurant. ("Going the extra mile" - almost literally.)
Read moreIf you're familiar with other restaurants run by followers of Supreme Master Ching Hai, you'll probably find Loving Hut to be similar. With such a huge menu, the food is bound to be hit-and-miss for any given person's taste, and such was the case with my meal. I dug the dumplings, but not so much the "eel" (fried mushrooms and chilis - very oily, more saturating than satisfying).
There's no dessert per se, but they did offer something called "pumpkin pie" that, while bearing no resemblance to the dessert that goes by the same name in the English-speaking world, was tasty and vaguely sweet.
My carrot juice was thick with pulp (not especially juicy, as far as juices go), so i was glad that they also provided a pleasant complimentary house tea.
Pros: Great dumplings, Kind-hearted staff, Non-smoking
Cons: Some dishes quite oily, Suma TV dominates the atmposhere

Decent Vegan Fast Food - Edit
The main benefit of the Loving Hut from my perspective is simply the ability to order food and know it's vegan. Many restaurants in Beijing may have dishes that appear vegan but are typically made with some animal products.
Read moreThe food here is cheap, and the English menu is nice. However, the food is a mixed bag, and is almost entirely fake meat (not many vegetable dishes). I had some noodles that were kind of mushy and flavorless; the sweet and sour veggie ribs were decent but incredibly fried and oily, the kung pao chicken was pretty good, the "fish flavor eggplant" was really good (not fish flavored), and the dumplings in red oil were also really good (but super salty).
Pros: Cheap, All-vegan, English Menu
Cons: Oily, Food quality so-so

tasty vegan food in Beijing - Edit
good food, good value, close to the Silk Market, China World, Kerry Centre and embassy area and prices are very reasonable despite the location. We ordered five dishes and two freshly squeezed juices for 97RMB (approx. 14 dollars). The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was tasty, portion sizes were good, the menu was clear and had good photos to point to. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent Beijing Vegan Option in Great Location - Edit
We were in the hunt for a vegetarian restaurant (using Happy Cow, but Beijing is kind of hard to navigate, not being familiar with the language etc). We inadvertently came across Loving Hut. (Coincidentally had just been at a Loving Hut location in Singapore a couple days before). This one is in a great location, RIGHT near the popular Silk Market. They have tons of excellent dishes, really great prices, and friendly staff. We highly recommend!
