Good restaurant with tasty vegan options

On our last US holiday, we checked the vegan options for Tucson here on HappyCow and decided on this one. We didn't regret our choice, the Lovin' Spoonfuls is highly recommendable.

The atmosphere is cosy an quiet, staff was very friendly and helpful.

To our surprise, the portions were normal-sized, not like in most other US restaurants, so we had a starter and dessert with our main course. All three courses were very good, we didn't have any complaints.

amazing vegan food

Going out to eat hasn't made me this happy in a long time! My bf ordered the buffalo cauliflower "wings" as his main course and ate the entire plate without breathing! He also ordered fries which were amazing as well. I got the chick'n parm (which was on special) and it was not only the Best vegan food I've had it was the best Italian food I've ever gotten in tucson! Ps. They make vegan shakes with vegan whipped cream. 😏🙌🏻

Pros: large completely vegan menu, large portions

Cons: Nothing!

Popular place for good reason

I had a good feeling when I walked in and saw it full of a diverse crowd of smiling faces enjoying their meals, and that feeling proved true throughout my meal. The menu is diverse enough to offer something to please just about anyone, with fate ranging from salubrious salads to fried comfort food, with flavors from across the globe. My meal was delicious and service was warm and helpful. Enjoy!

I've loved everything!

I've been to Lovin' Spoonfuls on several Sunday afternoons. The food is always delicious, the coffee is strong (and organic) and the vegan cheesecake.. holy! The service could be friendlier but the patio and cheesecake more than make up for it. :). *Update*- owners have changed since my last visit and the customer service has been great!

Pros: food, vegan desserts, patio seating

Something for everyone!

This place has something for everyone! They have healthy options, gluten free options and veg options that meat-eaters will enjoy. My favorite healthy dish is the Adzuki bean burger. You can get this gluten free too. I ask for it without the mayo or vegan butter on the bread to make it even healthier. Then I get the side salad. Most places I wouldn't get the salad, but their dressing is the best you will every have. It's so popular, they sell it by the bottle! My favorite "less-healthy" meal (that's also great for omni folks) is the Fried chicken with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. Also a favorite is the corn bread muffins- moist and full of flavor. As of now, they sell Ashley's cakes and baked good which is the best cake in the US (maybe the world). I just got some of the gluten free carrot cake yesterday and you cannot even tell it's gluten free or vegan. You will love all that Lovin' Spoonfuls has to offer!

Pros: Menu diversity, Good food, Affordable

Better than ever!

LS has been our go-to place when we're in Tucson visiting my family, and while It's always been quality, the new ownership (just under a year ago if I remember right) made some tweaks and changes - like - no fries as a side for a burger? Now you can. The service also seemed more efficient. The last time we were there (right before the ownership change) the pacing was wonky - apps basically the same time as mains, etc.. Also the printed menu used to be a little chaotic - now it's nicely laid out.

Went there yesterday as we were in town for Mothers Day weekend. I had the tempeh reuben (which I think is new) - and it was hands down the best preparation of tempeh I've had - was crispy - not limp/crumbly like other places I've been to. Wife had a cup of the daily soup (carrot butternut squash - which she adored), and then faux-chicken melt - which she loved. Dad had the portobello sandwich, which he devoured (in his words "it's got all the stuff I like"), and mom had the 'porto pita' - which she thought was great - both of them had good large strips of mushroom - not smaller bits buried in cheap veggies like other places I've been to. For appetizers we had fried mushrooms, and the fried ravioli (which might be new as well).

Also I believe they used to have Pepsi products, but now it's Coke - which is good as Pepsi is not vegan.

Grabbed a couple slices of cake to go - and like everything else (Lemon-Raspberry and Coconut Cream) - were top-notch.

A couple things I really like about LS - their menu is varied and you can be really healthy - the closest thing up here in Phoenix is Green - which is generally on the heavier side. It's also really good for non-vegans/veg - my parents are not veg - and have struggled at other restaurants we've taken them to - but always find plenty of options at LS.

The only thing is I really wish they did is table service - when it's crowded it's a little awkward to sort of grab a table and then send one or two people up to order for everyone.

Pros: Efficient Service, Varied Menu - lots of variety, Consistent Quality

Cons: No table service

Not worth it

The food is ok, but the wait time and service is slow. Food was cold when it came out. They explained to us that the wait time was 45 min but it took an 1h15 for the food to arrive. I was a little disappointed by the portion sizes as well. Not enough cooks? Also, smuckers for toast? Nothing local like prickly pear jam?

Great vegan food

I visited this place during my last vacations to AZ. I had Mediterranean tofu scramble and German chocolate cake. Both were delicious. Very nice big serving of the cake. I wish I was closer.
I did try their iced tea which just wasn't my thing.

Pros: all vegan food, delisious, great value for the price

Cons: doesn't open till 11 on weekdays.

Best for vegan comfort food & incredible quality!!

Even my husband (an adamant meat eater and vegetable skeptic) was impressed by the good I brought as take-out after a long & difficult day! Staff were so very friendly and helped me pick out a delicious Alfredo pasta & the vegan chili cheese fries, which I could not pass up!! Both were UNBELIEVABLE and I had to defend both from my husband! Overall, this place is Tucson’s vegan pride as far as
I’m concerned. A real gem that every vegan should at least sample.

Pros: amazing food, best service, most friendly people,

Cons: parking can be tough at times

Prefect mix between healthy & satisfying

I am traveling here for work purposes and this is the first vegan restaurant I went to. I'm only here a few days but I intend to re-visit.
I ordered (based on a recommendation from a regular guest)Wildcat Burger, replacing the soy patty with the adzuki beans and it was very good! It's basically like a home-made burger, but MUCH better than something I could make! Oh my goodness, I could eat it every day.
I also got the strawberry-something cake and it was very great too!

Pros: Healthy and satisfying - great mix!, Vegan desserts!, Good atmosphere

Cons: ...

100% WFPB

Their menu is varied from appetizers (hummus, cauliflower buffalo wings) to burgers, pastas, bowls, stir frys. All items are Whole Foods Plant Based. They do I believe use oils in some items (fries, chip) but otherwise clean. Desserts are vegan but not sugar free. Everyone’s meal in our party was delicious, Restaurant was crowded both nights we went and service was slow but all staff was friendly.

Pros: all WFPB, wide variety of menu items, friendly staff

Cons: service slow, some oil use, order before you sit down

Vegan Heaven

We had a weekend planned in Tombstone which is not vegan friendly. We stopped here due to great reviews and found ourselves in vegan heaven. We ate here twice and ordered food to go. Breakfast was excellent! We each had a different scramble to share along with french toast which was out of this world. We ordered a brownie and breakfast burritos to go which saved us from starving in Tombstone. On the way back I had a reuben with carrot walnut pineapple salad and my husband had a felafel burger with hummus and potato salad. We both had the spicy iced tea, so good! We ordered a slice of coconut and black forest cake to go. Sunny, the owner, is very sweet and helpful when ordering. I bought her cookbook as well. We are now planning trips just to eat at this restaurant. We had a wonderful experience, loved all we that ordered and felt relieved not having to worry about any items on the menu. We don't live in an area with vegan restaurants, so this was a real treat and a break from constantly cooking. We can hardly wait to go back!

Pros: Vegan, organic and gluten free options, reasonably priced, friendly, huge variety, excellent presentation & portions

Cons: Men's restroom needs to be cleaner.

One of the best vegan burgers!

Can't wait to come back on my next work trip to try more items on the menu! I had the Wildcat Burger and it was absolutely amazing. You can tell that whomever owns the restaurant is passionate about good food and sharing it with other people. I was amazed at how fairly priced everything was as well. Will definitely come back next time I am in town!

Pros: Well priced, Delicious, Healthy

Amazing in every way.

Their cauliflower appetizer sauce is superb. All items are vegan. The wildcat burger is delicious. Their ravioli appetizer could be a meal if the portion size was larger. Basil angel hair spaghetti was good as well.

Pros: All vegan
