A nice place for Dim Sum. - Edit
Went there today for the first time with family and I realized how much I missed Yum Cha (Dim Sum). I know the practice of rolling carts displaying the dishes is hard to find these days, but this place has an okay variety of choices. It;s good to know what the end result looks like from the menu you initially read. The A La Carte Menu is costly as usual but that is commonplace. This is one of the better Vegan Dim Sum places (you still need to look out for the vegetarian menu items) in Scarborough along with Graceful Vegetarian.
Read morePros: Tasty Choices, Quick Service, Not too crowded as it is tucked away a bit.
Cons: Menu choices need to increase. , Vegan desserts needed., More noodle dishes.

Yummy with so many options - Edit
Great vegan selection! Impressive variety of mock meats. We loved all of our dishes but my favourites were the sesame chicken and the rice noodles with beef.

I have come here for over 13 years and really love this place. Wonderful selection of Chinese cuisine and the waitress is very helpful for recommending vegan dishes. Many of their dishes are vegan so come and feast! Excellent selection of soups and appetizers

Amazing chinese vegeterian - Edit
The lotus pond offers a staggering selection of vegeterian mock meat dishes. You will easily be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choices.
Read moreI tried the lemon mock chicken and it was amazing. I couldnt stop eating! The lemon glaze is strong and fragrant. The "meat" is quite juicy and tasty.
I always recommend this place to everyone who loves chinese and vegeterian cuisine.

Perfect vegan/vegetarian alternatives for Chinese dishes. The place is okay, nothing crazy, but the food and service are both very good.

Great place for vegan chinese food - Edit
This used to be our go to place for vegan chinese food. I had thought we were always ordering vegan as I had asked the employee in the past if the items we were ordering were vegan and they would always say yes. But one time, recently, I asked again (as I do out of an abundance of caution) and they did not understand what I was asking as their english was not strong, and put their daughter on the phone. I asked her if the items I typically ordered were vegan and was disappointed to find out that many were not. So, now I am leery about ordering from them. While the items that are vegan are absolutely delicious, I am worried that they either switch how they make things, or are not consistent with what ingredients they use.

Cons: Not clear what is vegan vs vegetarian, Communication barrier makes it hard to ask ?s

Huge menu - Edit
We love this place; the menu is huge so you can always try something new. This time we tried stir-fried snow pea leaves, which were delicious, as well as some tofu dishes and a mock beef dish. Reasonable prices, friendly staff.

good dim sum - many choices - Edit
They are now called Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant. We ordered off the DIM SUM menu. The choices are overwhelming. They gave me a large menu, a specials menu and a dim sum menu. We ordered numerous items and shared between four people. The total cost was $35. Nothing was outstanding but all was very good. The seaweed rolls were deepfried but very tasty. We also liked the mini buns which were steamed and a tofu dish. I wish I could remember the exact names of what we ate but she took our dim sum order sheet and I lost track of what we received.
Read moreThe people beside us ordered off the main menu and their food looked much more appetizing. (almost 200 menu items) I wish they had fewer choices and pictures so we knew what to order.
The place was packed and we were the only non-Asian people in the restaurant.
Pros: fresh, friendly, quick service
Cons: too many menu items

Vegans beware - Edit
I've been here twice and liked the food both times. However, they are not pure veg - some of the dishes have dairy and egg in them.
Read moreI tried to explain our vegan desires to our server the second time, but she spoke limited English, and the menu was useless (unlike menus in many other Chinese-Buddhist joints, which identify dairy and egg on them). I have a feeling - though she was insistent they were fine - that one or two items may not have been completely vegan.
That said, everything was, as the kids say these days, 'hella' good. Fresh veggies, especially mushrooms, and diverse combinations. The biggest menu I've seen next to the lamented defunct (well, technically relocated, but without the selection) Bo De Duyen on Spadina.
Pros: stellar dishes, well portioned, huge menu
Cons: difficult to communicate w/out Cantonese, not clear what isn't vegan, rough location w/out a car

A breath of fresh air - Edit
Toronto may have more pure vegetarian restaurants than any other city in the world except for New York or in India. Yet the quality of the restaurants in Toronto have been rather dissapointing.
Read moreYet Lotus Pond by far has the best quality I have tasted in Toronto to date. The pan fried veggie chicken was actually quite amazing.
Don't go here to get service. The server we had didn't speak english. Yet the food more than made up for any lack of service.
I spoke with a patron who helped us communicate with the server, and he was telling me that the 3 best veggie chinese restaruants were located right in this area.
He mentioned that the ones in downtown focus on quanity, while the suburbs focus on quality. I hope this helps
Pros: GREAT FOOD, Very Busy, I love that
Cons: Service was a little more
