The staff is really nice. We had the basil eggplant, Mongolian beef, and spicy noodle soup. Everything was delicious!! It’s my new place.

Vegan Options - Edit
This not an all vegan place. Sanleandro is unfortunately lacking in this department. However I’ve been coming to lotus leaf for almost 2 years now but just writing a review. There are 2 things that I get everytime. The Buddha roll which is tofu veggie spring roll with peanut sauce and the veggie rice clay pot with vermicelli noodles on top. It is so flavorful. Satisfies me everytime. Now i don’t know if they cook stuff separately and I rather not know or look in the kitchen to see I’m just going tell myself it’s all good.

Tasty food, open in mid afternoon - Edit
Very tasty food - I’ve been here a few times. They have lots of vegan meat analogs, tofu and fresh veggies. Thai tea with coconut instead of moo juice. Parking in their own lot!

Update:
Read moreFinally walked into this place, cute interior and friendly service. While deciding what to order someone tried to recommend animal-based dishes. Ooof! Other than that, good experience.
Original: Ordered on my behalf, with love via a third party app (negative points for how the food was delivered but it was ordered on my behalf so I super appreciated it and don’t put that on the establishment).
I was iffy of the unsealed Lemonade so I didn’t consume it, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Buddha Rolls x 2. Super fresh veggies and tofu with peanut sauce for dipping! Yum!
I’ll have to update once I try the Eggplant Dish, I just couldn’t eat everything all in one go. #Veganuary

Love Me Some Viet - Edit
Lotus Leaf is one of the few spots in town that offers a separate vegetarian/vegan menu that is as large as the meat side. I was curious to try it since I've been to virtually every mock-meat restaurant in San Jose, and I have to say that it was not bad for a local stop in the East Bay.
Read moreI ordered the Veggie Vermicelli Bowl, which came with an egg roll made with taro, and a few mock meat options made from soy and wheat-gluten. I was skeptical at first because of how realistic the meat looked! My plate was pretty tasty but I noticed the mock meats lacked flavor. The vegan fish sauce was a definite must for everything to really come together. My favorite part was definitely the egg roll in this case.
If you aren't interested in mock meats, they still have other veggie friendly options like vegetarian pho with tofu and veggies, and salt & pepper fried tofu.
Overall, a good spot for veggie and meat eaters alike, but could be a bit more flavorful for some of the mock meats.
Pros: Mock meat options available
Cons: Food could use more flavor

Delicious Vietnamese Food - Edit
One of my favourite places to get vegan food in San Leandro. I love getting the Vermicelli with Eggroll. If you like spice, try the spicy lemongrass tofu with the curry fried rice!

Try the vermicelli! - Edit
I ordered the vegetarian vermicelli (it's vegan) and it has been the best vermicelli I have ever tried! The service was great and the wait time was short.

I liked the House Rice Clay Pot. The mushrooms were so flavorful and we'll cooked. Onions were tasty too. All the flavors mixed in well. It was slightly oily but not too bad. I would eat here again, the prices were very reasonable too

Lot of options, nearly everything deep fried - Edit
We tried four items from the "vegetarian" menu (which in small print says includes no animal products including egg). The best of the bunch was the Claypot which was a delicious mix of noodles, rice, tofu strips, and veggies. Definitely something you'll want to share because the dish is a bit heavy, but was hard to stop eating it! We were disappointed that ALL but one entree included deep fried veggie meat or tofu, and even the papaya salad and fresh spring rolls included deep fried tofu and other fried bits. The dressing on the papaya salad was not at all traditional and was frankly unpleasant. It made us long for Blossom or SF Loving Hut's version of the same dish. The Summer Rolls were very good but one of the reasons we usually like to order that dish is that it is supposed to be fresh and healthy, not filled with deep fried ingredients. Finally, the one non-deep fried entree, Eggplant basil with tofu, was tasty for the first few bites, but there was so much oil in it that we didn't want to eat it and it's still sitting in our refrig three days later! Bottom line: might be a nice place to go if you want to treat yourself to deep fried food. Otherwise, choose elsewhere. (Maybe they can alter the abundance of oil if you ask?)

Love this place - Edit
As others have said, there are lots of Vegan options. The menu labels the section “Vegetarian” but reading through the items, none of them in that section use animal products. Then at the bottom of that section is note that essentially reads no animal (including dairy) products used for these menu options. We’ve eaten there 4-5 times and have never had a bad or even a mediocre meal. It’s all been delicious. I would give 5 stars but Happy Cow reserves 5 star ratings for Vegan only restaurants.
