Lovely service and plenty of alcohol with reggae music - Edit
The only distinct vegan place in town. It is clearly marked on happy cow and is located exactly 600 meters from where we stayed (ie, a few minutes of walking). It's mostly a very sympathetic (and dark, as you'll see in the photos) place that offers completely vegan street food: gyros, club sandwiches, falafel, hamburgers, Mediterranean bruschetta, a mezze platter and ice cream (we sampled almost all of the dishes, loved them and left full and drunk. Twice!). It’s not about a culinary sensation, but it serves yummy food and it's fun to praise the only vegan place in town.

What a find, a great little bar with great food - Edit
Loved this place. The staff were really friendly and during our stay, I think we tried everything on the vegan-only menu, all of it delicious and really good value. My favourite was the gyros for £3, absolute bargain!

As the only fully vegan venue in Rethymno, we had to try this place. We went there after a day at the beach (it's a bit of a walk from the city center, but not far if you are at the beach). We tried the mezze for two and got to try their variation of food on a plate. It was a good portion, but too tasty not to order something else. Both the gyros and club sandwich were great. But don't be fooled by the prices and the name, the portions are more than "a snack"!
Read moreIt also functions as a beach bar, and most people were there to have a drink by the beach. As a new venue, I hope people support them by actually eating there too. With a view of the beach, nice venue, and great vegan food, I hope it stays there for a long time.

Quaint and friendly vegan café - Edit
I enjoyed my visit to Loco vegan snack bar. The service was friendly and really quick; my pita gyros (I really enjoyed the chips, meat alternative, amd vegan tzatziki) and matcha latté were both tasty and sizeable portions for an affordable price. It’s also in a beautiful location, right across the road from the beach. Would go back to try the burger if I was in Crete for longer!

It was nice to go somewhere where the whole menu is vegan and we could pick anything from the menu, that being said I wish there were more options. There was a burger, gyro, Mediterranean sandwich and club sandwich. We went for the burger and it was not disappointing. Yummy food and drinks. Staff were friendly and not bad prices.

Read moreThose who had milkshakes and ice cream had more troubles than those who did not. My 6 yo is vegan from birth and she was having stomach issues until midnight(she had fries, milkshake and ice cream). The symptoms are very much lactose intolerance.

On our way to Chania saw that this perfect vegan spot opened up.

Then switched into our swim suits and took advantage of their lounge chairs on the beach.
Quick dip and continued on our way.

Best gyros pita ever! - Edit
Amazing place, we have ordered gyros pitas and cocktails (zombie and pornstar) and both food and drinks were amazing! The gyros was the best i have ever eaten and definitely the best food i ate in Crete. Non vegan partner was amazed as well! Highly recommended!

The atmosphere is chilled with good music and plenty of shade.
