***MOVED PLACE*** - Edit
This cosy and mouth-watering restaurant is highly recommended for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Their service is impeccable and extremely warm. Its general décor and ambience are classy and relaxing. Their food was perfect – fulling for the stomach, and warm for the heart. Its variety of food encompasses both western and Chinese cuisine, as well as pastries like cakes and bread, making this place a vegetarian dining heaven.
Read moreI ordered the chocolate mousse cake, Soy protein in black pepper sauce with rice (served with soup), Sautéed tofu with rice (served with soup), for two people. It took them quite a bit of time to prepare the food even though we were the only customer at that time of the weekday, and especially the mousse cake which they need to decorate, with love. We also had a lovely chat with the stall owners, and we found her very interactive and friendly. This restaurant is neither too small nor grand, it probably could serve maximum of 20 plus people. It is generally spacious as the spacing between tables are generous, making it easy to move.
The only downside is its off beaten track location, and it is not easy to locate. Their customers are mainly office workers who work in the floors above the building where this restaurant is. This restaurant was located near Jiangwan Stadium station. Recent Facebook post suggests this restaurant had moved place, nevertheless its legacy remains.
Pros: Appetizing and sumptuous food, Excellent customer service and cosy ambience

Great vibes and extensive vegan menu. Little pricier than an ordinary cafe (30¥ regular flat white) but you can understand why, and it’s definitely worth it. Great to see Oatly available. Western and Chinese eats.

Vegan Heaven in Shanghai - Edit
There are so many great things to say about this restaurant. Firstly I’d like say upon my first visit I was lost, after discovering that the apple marker is hella wrong. After walking around for about ten mins out of desperation I called the cafe and to my surprise there was an employee that spoke English! She did her best to direct me towards the cafe and when I was getting closer to the shop another employee went as far as to come out to the street to track me down. Which was an amazing gesture.

Pros: Extremely Helpful Staff, Great Vegan options , Reasonably priced

Brilliant! Must go! - Edit
What a jem! My girlfriend and I found LN Fortunate Coffee hiding just up the road from our flat, thank god. It's been a struggle to find good vegan food in China but this was incredible!!! The coffee was delicious, the burger was to die for and the nuggets were possibly the best I've ever had. We can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu which is very varied, Western and Asian style dishes. The staff were just as awesome as the food! They put a table outside for us because we had our dog with us, they were very attentive and polite. If you are a vegan in Shanghai...you must visit!!! Heck even if you aren't a vegan, you'll still love it.

Yummy - Edit
Brilliant food, staff and ambience. A little trek out of town but definitely worth it. The hot/cold drinks are amazing. The cold hot chocolate was so yummy. Food was also great, staff were so friendly. Only let down were the straws in the drinks and the chocolate orange cake was no where near the standard of everything else. A must visit.

Love love love - Edit
First time here, and I LOVE this place. Food is delicious and the staff are exceptionally warm and accommodating. The burger is to die for, and they make it in house. The girl asked me if I want gloves to eat my burger and I said no, but you should say yes. I also had delicious chickn nuggets, for which I requested chili sauce on the side (otherwise it comes with ketchup.). I got some chocolate chip orange bread and a chocolate muffin to go. I can’t wait to come back.
Read moreThey have a separate a la carte menu that is all in Chinese. Be sure not to miss this, as it contains lots of items that are not on the English menu: the desserts, nuggets, waffle, hot dog, various sides, something like dim sum, steamed buns, etc. They also have the burger on that menu without the fries if you want that option, and a new black pepper burger.

It's not the journey, it's the destination this time! - Edit
Having been in Shanghai for 18 months now there are surprisingly still a lot of places I've yet to try, something I aim to improve upon this year. We finally decided to make the journey on the metro which took about 45 minutes, the directions in reviews were helpful except when you exit the metro you only see signs for exits 1-3 until you go into the adjoining food mall where you will find further exits! Once we'd found exit 9 we then found this place easily. It was a Saturday afternoon, there were only a smattering of customers, the place is lovely, clean and spacious. The staff were so kind and friendly speaking great English. I had the cheeseburger and fries while my girlfriend had a tofu plate, it was very reasonably priced. The food was great, not sensational but still very tasty and decent portions. We then had coffees with Oatly (which is becoming extremely popular here in Shanghai cafes) and two muffins: Chocolate and Orange Choc chip, these were delicious. We bought a selection of their breads and 3 muffins to take away and all of them were great. It's definitely worth a visit especially if you want to just hang out in a tranquil spot while also satisfying that sweet tooth craving, I know I'll be back sooner than later. Side note there's a beautiful book store on the corner as you come out of exit 9.

Vegan cafe with great food and atmosphere - Edit
The best place to eat vegan in the Wujiaochang area. The burger and the muffins BANG. They also do a range of Chinese style dishes with mock meats, as well as a sandwich, hot dog and sushi set. Also serve a range of cakes, sweet treats and drinks. Decent sized portions, pricing not too expensive for what it is. Spacious and comfortable space suited to studying, reading or getting some work done. The staff are all lovely and speak English and Chinese.

Delicious! - Edit
Everything is vegan, with both american and chinese style food. The staff speaks both languages and often help with the menu. The atmosphere is very cozy and I actually stayed for several hours doing homework. Its pricier than the average chinese resturant but it has big portions. Loved it!!

lovely experience - Edit
I was so excited to find this place with all vegan food. Really good food at an affordable price. I tried the burger on the recommendation of a staff member and it was great. The iced chocolate was refreshing and not too intense. Staff were friendly and helpful and the interior was calm and nicely air-conditioned. The location was a bit awkward to find from the maps & with roadworks and it was seriously a hallelujah moment when I found it and was able to escape the heat. Definitely recommend.

Nicest (and possibly the only) vegan place in Wujiaochang area - Edit
Found this place through Happy Cow, and was definitely pleasantly surprised! Location is few blocks away from Daxue Lu and Jiangwan Stadium metro station in an office complex. So far have tried few dishes and coffee desserts. They seem to have a lunch deal that includes a dish hot/cold tea which is decently priced. Overall the food has been surprisingly good (especially enjoyed the veggie burger!) and the cakes and coffee are incredibly cute! Menu only in Chinese, staff speaks some English. Would definitely recommend for anyone who happens to be nearby :)

Clean and delicious, with great service and large portions - Edit
While working at a client's office in Shanghai, I found (thanks to Happy Cow!) this place just across the street. I couldn't have been more satisfied -- the food was quite good, with excellent and friendly service, and very large portions.
Read moreWe got two soups (not realizing the dumplings were in soup), a vegan hot dog, salad, and a fake meat dish with rice. All was great except for the vegan hot dog... but if you're going to this restaurant for a vegan hot dog, I think you deserve what you get! The salads even came with forks, as if you needed confirmation that Chinese cuisine doesn't include fresh vegetables.
The menu appears to only be in Chinese, and I only used Chinese to communicate with the staff. They were so incredibly friendly and helpful, though, that I have to imagine they'll go out of their way to help anyone who doesn't know the language.
I'll be returning there, for sure, both on this trip and in the future -- and I'll be delighted to do so.
Pros: Big portions, Clean, Friendly staff

One of our top 5! - Edit
Stopped in after learning about it at the Go Plantopia/ ECO Design Fair just across the way. Fortunate Coffee was not listed in HappyCow and glad we found it! We have difficulty with vegan food that is cooked with any oil. When we find a place that uses minimal oil, it can quickly become a favorite. We're so glad we found it!
Read moreThe staff was quite nice and English was spoken by the one who helped us. The menu is in both Chinese and English. The food sizes are generous for the price. We were quite pleased!
Free wi-fi, exceptionally clean, great service, what more can one ask for!! Highly recommended.
Note though that due to construction on Songhu Rd. Fortunate may be difficult to find. If coming from the subway follow the directions in the write-up; hopefully, you will be able to find them.
Enjoy!!.
Pros: Great food, Clean and quiet setting, Friendly staff
Cons: location may be a problem
