Good Food, Hot Location

Livity is no longer at Haining Rd. Instead it is at the corner of Rippon and Eureka in New Kingston, across from Churches Credit Union. The kitchen and order counter is in some sort of small temporary building made permanent. Seating is al fresco. The menu is varied and the food is good but not excellent. For example, the BBQ Reggae Globes has what tasted like bottled BBQ sauce. Curried Cabbage was quite good. Stirred cornmeal was also pretty good. Ackee and chunks was better. All in all it was good and very filling food. It was more of a very clean Ital restaurant. Prices were also very reasonable. Like many places, they serve a "meal" where you pick a certain number of "proteins" and sides. Note that the curried cabbage was a protein. For non-Jamaicans, the side of vegetables is the typical boiled yams, plantains, etc. These are very bland wherever you go (Think of a boiled potato with nothing on it). Regarding the "atmosphere," prepare to be hot but they have made it as pleasant as possible with the coverings over the seating area. For tourists, it is about a 10 minute walk from the Pegasus so there is no excuse to not eat meatless.

Pros: Very good Ital, good value, Very filling

Cons: Outside eating (hot)
