I waited an hour and a half in front of this cafe to open up to eagerly support what's listed as the only vegan outlet on the island only to be confused by the menu. Hard boiled eggs? Dairy yoghurt? I asked the owner why the business was listed as vegan on Happy Cow and she replied that this was because they have "many vegan options"... I told her there was a category for her business called "vegetarian" as certainly any restaurant can have vegan options-- even Maccas will gladly take a vegan's money and give them some plant based capitalism and call it vegan.

To her enormous credit, as I explained the liberation pledge to the non-vegan owner and why I would not be ordering anything despite having waited so long, she maintained a friendly, polite and patient smile as I vegan policed her. She didn't argue or get angry and simply said she would update the listing. For this I was enormously grateful, more grateful would I have been if she didn't sell animal abuse products for profit, but here's hoping with a little introspection and soul searching this business will be 100% fully and truthfully vegan by my next return. Such a very minor and unnecessary bit of evil souring another otherwise beautiful menu in a beautiful location. Hoping this gets fixed right away! She did tell me to try a different island which was a bit [censored], but oh well, could have been worse, she could have locked me in a cage, raped me and harvested my sexual reproductive effluvium until I was too exhausted to live and then sold my body off to the meat-eaters. So, I appreciate her restraint and politesse in this exchange.
