Good vegan options, some issues

I've been twice now with friends and it's a nice relaxed place with good vegan options. There's an outdoor seating area and it's really spacious and airy inside.

I recommend the foccacia, cauliflower with muhammara, lion's mane tacos, and tofu bahn mi (wow the tofu was incredible and flavors and textures were well balanced).

The mushroom shawarma on the other hand was not my favorite - the spice mix in the mushrooms was overwhelming/heavy-handed, there was a ton of mushroom and nothing else that would provide a texture or flavor contrast or some brightness/freshness to cut the spice. The flatbread was soggy and fell apart, which could be resolved if it were grilled to dry it out a bit (and would give it some depth of flavor too). This could be a good dish, just felt like the chef didnt put much thought into developing it (or perhaps it was the execution that evening).

Also, considering the place is plant forward and they should expect vegans or vegetarians to dine there, I was surprised that our server didn't ask us about dietary preference and went on to recommend fish dishes that we wouldn't be able to eat anyway. So that was very unhelpful.

Excellent breakfast, we’re coming back for lunch

Came in for breakfast and a cuppa - we both had avocado on toast and I added vegan egg. Food was delicious, the avocado was great and addition of pickled beetroot and herbs really lifted it. The menu looked so good we changed our plans for the day to come back for lunch.

As others have pointed out including honey in some marked vegan options is weird but you can ask and server will double check. Service was prompt and staff were super friendly - highly recommend.

Pros: Great food, Friendly service, Reasonable prices

Cons: Honey marked as vegan

Savory porridge!

Between my friend and I, we tried the morning bar, a biscuit, savory oats and a board. We ordered way too much. My favorite was the savory porridge! I highly recommend the falafel bites as well. I thought the tomato and hempseed dip was too sweet for me. The fava bean-avocado reminded me of fancy guacamole—it was fine but I don’t love avocado. My friend really liked those dips but I preferred the tahini that came with the falafel. I will definitely come back here to try more of their menu.

Edit: I came back to try the collards & cowpeas bowl. It was delicious! However my partner got the falafel wrap and it needed some pickled turnips or hot sauce for some extra flavor. I also realize there isn’t much else on the menu I would want to try. Most of their savory options have egg or dairy. If they would offer substitutes like tofu scramble or just egg then I might come back more often.

Edit: They have started to offer vegan egg and continue to have good vegan offerings here. At the moment you can also find tofu on the menu. I’m still digging the savory porridges!

A great little spot

After a long day of walking around this spot was perfect, maybe a 10 minute walk from gas works park. I had the most incredible corn soup and focaccia.. all of it was really fresh and the service was kind and attentive.

Wholesome place with the Best atmosphere

Wonderful experience here! Good for a latte, brunch or dinner! I got the salmon tartine and it was wonderful. Most of their options are totally vegan, all local organic and original flavor combinations. They even offered me a blanket answer a cozy place to read for however long i want.

Great brunch

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. I visited during brunch and ordered the biscuits and gravy and the sunchoke bisque. I enjoyed both items. The mushroom gravy with the biscuits and gravy was fantastic!

Great Brunch

I went for a Sunday brunch. I had a vegan scramble with a garbanzo based egg substitute that was very unique and flavorful. My partner had a egg and cheese breakfast sandwich that was also very good. We liked the coffee. Friendly service.

Pros: Vegan scramble, Coffee, Decor

Don’t miss the crème brûlée

The first Seattle restaurant I’ve been excited about in a while, this “plant-forward” spot occupies the roomy former Miir space. In total, we were able to try the tortelli, the cowpeas & greens, the lion’s mane tacos, and the Caesar salad. For dessert we ordered the saffron crème brûlée and miso squash cake.

The labeling system is slightly more complex than average and tells you what ingredients are present (nuts, dairy, fish, etc) rather than marking what’s vegan. However it was reasonably quick to scan and didn’t contain any errors that I could see, and I found I preferred it to the ubiquitous v/vg/vg* combinations.

Of our dishes, the Caesar salad and saffron crème brûlée were outstanding. Would recommend adding the cowpeas to any group order since many of the entrees are on the small side.

Service was fine and speedy, though we would have appreciated new plates for dessert to replace our thoroughly sauced dishes.

Fantastic local vegan food

Livbud cafe is a pescatarian (mostly vegan) restaurant that serves local and organic food for brunch, lunch, and dinner. We stopped there for dinner on a Friday night and really enjoyed our meal. The non-vegan ingredients were well labeled and the food was delicious! I especially enjoyed the tortelli dish. The ambiance was great and the staff were friendly.

Pros: Delicious vegan options , Unique choices , Reservations available

Cons: Some dinner entrees were a little pricey.

Great Burger

We didn't need a reservation to get a seat Sunday morning for brunch, but service was really slow. They were out of the shawarma, but the Falafel Burger was really good. Biscuits and Mushroom Gravy was good as well, buttery crunch biscuits although a bit on the salty side. The corn bisque was a little too sweet, although it came topped with nice crispy onions.

Rotating Menu!

I love that Livbud is open all day and the menu changes based on what time you come in, as well as changing by the season. I’ve come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - any time of day is a great option, but bringing my laptop to work from here is my absolute favorite. It is such a bright and mellow environment. So far my faves are smoothies and elixirs, the truffles and chaga caramels, the biscuit and jam, and the build your own charcuterie. Oh, I also had the best vegan crème brûlée I’ve ever had. 😍

Pros: Options for everyone, Open all day, Welcoming environment

Cons: Not fully vegan

Very vegan friendly

Everything is vegan unless labeled otherwise, and the only non vegan things on the menu are some dishes which include fish and dairy. The “build your own board” concept was very fun since you can try several small plates. All of them were delicious!
