Delicious vegan food - Edit
I love this restaurant! I have come here a few times now.
Read moreI'm an American and I was looking for Vegan food in Geneva, but unfortunately the days I visited Geneva the fully vegan restaurants in old town were closed.
However Little Ethiopia Cafe was open. I love Ethiopian food so I was excited to try it. The restaurant has seating for many different amounts of people (tables for 2 and tables for groups). The hosts gave me a menu and spoke English. On my most recent visit they also had an English menu. The hosts also speak French, Spanish, and other languages I didn't know.
The menu is in French, but with Google translate I was able to point to what I wanted so I got my carafe of water and the Yemisir Wot. It's a lentil dish that is my favorite at Ethiopian restaurants. Here it is very flavorful, a very slight kick of spice, and the plate comes out with multiple sides of other vegetable vegan dishes. It all tastes amazing. They also bring out a plate of the bread to eat with. It's so filling I don't have to eat the rest of the day!
After the meal I usually get a coffee or tea. I eat at off times like 3pm so it wasn't busy, however closer to a normal dinner time they can be packed and a reservation is recommended.
They have a full bar as well, but I don't drink often.
I recommend this place if you want a delicious and large vegan meal. My total came out to under 26 Franks and I think that is incredibly reasonable.
The vegan items are listed in a vegan/vegetarian section and are marked as vegan. It makes it easy to order and you can also get a sampler style meal to try a bit of everything if you haven't had Ethiopian food before. This would be the perfect place to try it.
The hosts will even explain how to eat your food. And if you really want utensils they will give you some. Try this place out for yourself!
Pros: Easily marked vegan options , Huge portions

Good food and lovely staff! - Edit
First time of trying this type of food!
Read morePositively surprised by the texture, the colours, the flavours and the eating style by hand.
Well prepared and seasoned. Mixed vegan plate for 2 (51 CH) with differe t lentils, veggies and enough bubble bread to eat. Everything on the plate was super yummy and filling.
For starters we had some fried "samosas" filled with lentis again but mega delicious! Served with a hot sauce which was crazy hot 😂
For sure a place to come by to try this type of food.
Staff is lovely!
PS. Location is located within / near red light district
Pros: Flavour
Cons: Limited Selection of vegan food

Good Ethiopian food (unfortunate Geneva prices) - Edit
Vegetarian/vegan clearly marked on menu but as usual with Ethiopian just best to get the mixed plate and have some of everything. Happy to provide extra injera. Certainly not cheap, but comparable to other restaurants in Geneva and portion was very large. Food very tasty. (Staff speak English if that helps too.)

Great vegan platter! - Edit
Very very delicious food. Took quite a while to get it though, but we might just have been unlucky as they seemed a bit understaffed that night (very nice staff)!

Great lunch option! There's a separate vegan page in the menu. You can order a single dish, or a mix off all vegan dishes, which I highly recommend! We were super happy to get a meal with plenty of plant protein and veggies. Good portion size. 55 CHF bill for a lunch for two.

Very heart-warming experience! - Edit
We took the shared Mesob for four people and got two free bread refills. The cook was also the waitress and she was super friendly and eager to make the stay as pleasent as possible. The food tasted amazing. Would give 5 stars but they also serve meat so I cannot. Super value for a fair price!

The food was delicious, we enjoyed everything.
The owner was also very friendly and chatty; and there was even some live music during our dinner.

Authentic Ethiopian - Edit
I visited Little Ethiopia earlier this week for dinner. It was both poorly attended and disorganised. Apparently there were some technicians requiring most of staff's attention.
Read moreI got an authentic vegan injera plate, fresh and tasty. The plate is eaten without cutlery, by using hands only.
Later I took a traditional tea as well, which I drank already in Ethiopia but had forgotten about - too much clove and so on for my taste.
Prices pretty good for Switzerland.
Pros: authentic tasty food, okay prices for Switzerland
Cons: disorganised staff, clean but unappealing setup

Lots of inexpensive options - Edit
This restaurant is pretty cheap for a sit down place in Switzerland. And the range of options is very good as well. You'll have to like Ethiopian cooking but I recommend you try it at least once, it's very vegan friendly and fun to eat (curries picked up by hand using pieces of injera flatbread).
