Unusual location but good food - Edit
We have tried to go to Lion's Share a few times and have often found them inexplicably closed. But on the one occasion that they were open we had 2 nice meals- the enchilada that everyone talks about, and a chickpea salad. For me they were both a bit over salted, but my mum really enjoyed that! It would be nice if they had more options but at the moment it's just those two. The chef/ owner seems really friendly and happy to chat about his food philosophy and they are branching out to do deliveries now and have signs all over the island. I hope they continue to grow as a business and with it should come some more vegan options. He was saying that he will be able to deliver a week or a month's worth of food, so he has some big ideas!

Cons: Only one or two vegan options, Tricky place to get to, Sometimes closed without warning

Delicious Ghanaian food - Edit
Delighted to visit Lion's Share Cafe last week, just before they closed at 5pm - one of the few veggie places on the island open on Mondays. It's a small shop tucked away near the KFC, run by the owner who picks fresh herbs from his garden out back. The roti wraps were packed with grains and fresh veggies, and was truly one of the most delicious meals we had during our week in Barbados. Very affordably priced at $10 US, and takeaway was fine with us. I rarely leave reviews, but this place was such a gem, with an owner so clearly passionate about healthy eating. I'd encourage all visiting vegetarians and vegans to check it out!

Tried this place, he said I should have came earlier because they were sold out of a lot but he whipped something together for me! It was good and flavorful, I would eat here again though.

First Nuff Respect to Chef Steven, producing quality cuisine (organic plant based & delicious) for locals and tourists.

While waiting for the freshly cooked food I was entertained by the friendly lizard and a visiting bird.
This is a must visit for those in and around the Bridgetown area.
Lion's Share Cafe also offers a delivery service too!
You will be impressed by Chef Steven's service, honesty and the superb quality of the food.

Serves classic, vegan Carribean food with a healthy twist! Focused on unprocessed foods such as lentils and quinoa as opposed to faux meats.

What a delightful discovery - great vegan food with a charming Bajan vibe - Edit
First visit to Lion's Share today and we were just over-the-top delighted with the experience. First of all, the owner, Steven, is just incredibly warm and welcoming, and he provided his gentle recommendations before going off to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for us. Barbados is decently vegan-friendly (we've been coming here annually since 2017) and Lion's Share is a wonderful and much-welcomed addition to all that the island and its vegan and ital community has to offer. We'll certainly go back to Lion's Share on a regular basis during our stay in Barbados, and we simply urge others to go enjoy it, as well!

A very special place! - Edit
My partner and I visited Lion’s Share twice on our recent trip to Barbados and loved it! The atmosphere was lovely and there were even 2 gorgeous kittens that kept us company!
Read moreInstead of having a menu or options to choose from, we were given what was fresh that day… we loved this surprise element of the experience!
We had delicious bean and vegetable enchiladas on both visits, once with herby quinoa and once with herby rice. The chef picked fresh herbs from the garden behind the cafe, we loved this touch. We also enjoyed the Sorrel kombucha and Tamarind drink (be sure to check if there is any honey added when you order).
The dishes served are handcrafted and made from scratch slowly and carefully, so allow for plenty of time if you visit, it’s not fast food! It was refreshing to visit a cafe where the chef was enjoying his time cooking at his own pace.
We had some great chats with the chef and he even showed us a trick with the Moringa seeds that were growing in the garden, ask him about it if you go!
We’ll definitely be back next time we visit!
Pros: Heathy + handcrafted made with local ingredients, Friendly service, Great drinks!

Delicious - Edit
The food is really tasty and different. We arrived just before the owner, Steven was packing up and he took pity on us as we had cycled there. He still took the time to explain the ingredients and their passion for Bajan heritage plants which they grow and use in their dishes and home made kombucha.

Lion's Share: beyond compare! - Edit
Situated by the Warrens Roundabout in St Michael, Barbados, the gem that is the Lion’s Share Café is a tranquil oasis tucked away in a busy corporate area.
Read moreThe owner, Steven Whittaker, is friendly and knowledgeable about food. His mission is to educate and inspire people to eat quality, healthy foods. The café is all vegan, and Steven takes delight in hand-preparing the dishes himself and cooking in a lovely brick oven, which he delights in showing his guests. He sells organic vegetables and a variety of the nutritionally supplemented beverage Kombucha- available in a variety of local Barbadian flavours such as sorrel and tamarind.
My dad and I had enchilada and sweet potato wedges, sautéed vegetables, black-eyed peas in tamarind sauce, and a lovely crispy salad. Our meals were beautifully presented, freshly-prepared and delicious. We’ve since told our Barbadian friends, who now rave about the place and use it regularly for lunch or just for soup snacks.
On a second visit, my dad tried the soon broccoli pasta pie with fresh leaves and tamarind pepper sauce and loved it.
Steven’s aim is to meet and exceed customer expectations, and he does. The customer service provided by the owner and his assistant Maureen is friendly and informative. He is looking at running talks on vegan nutrition and cookery classes soon. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. We’ll be back again!
Pros: Freshly prepared, nutritious vegan food
