Wasn't the best - Edit
Me and my aunt had dinner here and honestly were not impressed. I had the green curry and it didn't really have a taste. The starter was meant to be peanut sauce but was peanuts ontop of sweet chilli.

Nice vegan options - Edit
I’m in Basingstoke for quarterly team meeting and, for a change, I managed to eat!!! 😃
Read moreI usually starve at these meetings because when my colleagues book a restaurant they think that seeing a salad on the menu means the restaurant has vegan options… 🥴
And as soon as you step out of London, omni restaurants are not as vegan friendly as they are in the capital, but this restaurant (The Lime Leaf) now has a vegan section on the menu, so I had a vegetable tempura for starter, pak choi braised in soy sauce in between and a mushroom tom kha soup for main 🍵
They didn’t have any type of vegan meat replacements, but I adore vegetables, so I was very happy with what I ordered! ☺️
Pros: Fantastic tempura , Open to dish modifications
Cons: Slow service

Very mixed experiences here - Edit
I'm editing this review to reflect my last visit
Read moreWe've visited three times before on weekday evenings and really enjoyed it. On those visits the staff were friendly and helpful with making sure we were ordering vegan food. They either knew already or double checked with the kitchen.
There's also a better than average selection of vegan options on the main menu, and a few good starters. Dessert options are limited though, just sorbet it seems. But it was great food, nice staff and a good selection of main menu items so I was happy to recommend this place.
Our visit last Saturday was bad though. Multiple bad things happened. The man serving us at first seemed annoyed we were trying to order vegan food. When we asked him if something was vegan he just said "I think so" in an abrupt way. I said we wanted vegan food multiple times and he just kept saying this. I ended up ordering items I recalled were vegan on past visits. When he returned with our water I asked again if he'd checked if the items we ordered were vegan. I doubted he had, but it was a polite way to remind him. And he said "I think so" in the same way as before. He really didn't care or want to check with the kitchen. It felt passive aggressive.
The starters show up and the tempura has mayonnaise, not chili sauce. So it's got egg in. We explain this to another man who is waiting, and he's clearly confused, but he's friendlier than the first man and checks with the kitchen. He replaces it with the chili sauce and things are ok with that at least.
The mains show up soon enough. The rice was very hard and cold though, I suspect reheated or it had been cooked a while ago. The pad Thai was decent, but the sweet and sour was just really sweet, no sour, and had been cooked so the sauce caramelised and tasted like treacle. It was a pretty weird take on sweet and sour.
We asked the waitress to add a 10% tip to the card machine when we paid. A bit low, but we'd not been having a great evening. I realise it was a bit of a low tip, but she didn't even say a basic thanks, just looked annoyed, asked if we wanted a receipt and after that left without saying anything else.
Some other staff did thank us for coming on the way out though, and there had been one waitress who was friendly earlier in the evening when we asked for more water and gave us a whole jug to keep because it was a hot evening.
I'm not sure now if I'll go back. The last visit was stressful.

Long time favourite - Edit
I’ve been visiting the restaurant for years, and when I say I am vegan they’re very accommodating. Many dishes on the menu are vegan without adjustment. Including Thai green curry and tofu cashew nuts.

Stopped on trip back from Bournemouth - Edit
Very nice restaurant, we sat upstairs, which was cozy. I asked for the vegan menu, and there were quite a lot of dishes to choose from. The waiter we had was very polite, came to check on us and asked if we were enjoying our food. Would go there again, if passing through at some point.

Best Thai food I've ever eaten! - Edit
The lime leaf serve consistently fantastic, fresh & delicious food!
Read moreThis restaurant is a family favourite for meals out. They are well priced and the meals are always of the highest quality!
We look forward to taking new people to the lime leaf as we always know it's going to be a real treat. The staff have a great understanding of vegan diets and were always happy to suggest and adapt dishes. They have now got a separate veggie / vegan menu which means we could finally add them to happy cow and share these delicious dishes.
100% recommended! Go with a good appetite!😄
Pros: Bloody delicious!!, Well priced, Great service

A Gem Of Basingstoke - Edit
I've had many great meals at the Lime Leaf over the last few years as a vegan. The staff are very friendly and the decor is nice. There is a good range of vegan items on the menu.
Read moreMake sure to ask for the separate vegan menu, the staff are also knowledgeable about what is and isn't vegan and they are happy to change things a little as everything is cooked fresh.
The food has always been brilliant here and very consistent over the years which is always a plus.
The yellow curry and coconut rice is just one of the best things I've eaten in recent memory!
Pros: Big Selection of Vegan Items, Outstanding Food, Highly consistent over the years
