Oasis

This place was like an oasis, the service was good. There weren’t many options available as we were visiting in December, summer time would be different I guess. #Veganuary

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: A bit pricy

Great food!

Really friendly staff and lots of clearly labelled vegan options. Unfortunately they were out of arancini when we were there.

Una buona opzione a prezzo medio

Ristorante carino, personale accogliente e intraprendente.

Cons: Offerta limitata, Prodotto surgelato

Best bar in town!

This is itterely the best bar in town. We walked by on our first night in town and never left! They serve everything you could wish for in a beautiful town like Taormina: panini's, pasta, pizza, patatine, canoli, granita and every possible drink....even my favorite: bacardi cola! We've watched the football game Belgium - Italy on the terrace, wich was the best experience ever. And what makes the bar even more special is the people who work there. They really work their [censored] off and make you feel at home. We will never forget you Oliver and Luca! Thank you for your hospitality, we had a great time with you guys!

Poor food

Yes, this restaurant offers vegan food in their menu and yes, the waiters were very motivated. But the food comes from the freezer and is just not good.

Pros: Vegan menu

Cons: Bad food

Great vegan arancino

I went for lunch and found vegan arancino. Very good specially in taormina where it is really hard to find vegan food.

Great vegan place

Great vegan place. We went for lunch and had a Sicillian specialty and a small pizza. The staff is very friendly. Officially there are only three vegan options, but if you want something else it is no problem for them to make this vegan. So there is actually a lot more to choose from than officially on the menu.

Pros: Choiches, Friendly Staff, Good value

Almond milk cappuccino

Good for an almond milk coffee or a vegan arancino. Located centrally and good for watching the world go by. Vegan options are frozen and not freshly cooked.

Pros: Almond milk , central location

Good for a drink and watching the Main Street

Vegan options are at back of menu. We ordered soy cutlet and arancini. I enjoyed the soy cutlet as a change from pizza and pasta, comes with quinoa salad but may be worthwhile asking for a sauce as well. Arancini was quite bland. Probably wouldn't order again but I would order soy cutlet again.

Pros: Casual and relaxed atmosphere, view of Main Street, specified vegan options

Cons: Basic food

Not much for Vegans

...and nothing for Vegans with fine taste. At the end of the card there are 3 Vegan options: soy breaded cutlet, soy lasagne and arancini. The cutlet was hard, I also didn't like the bruschette pomodori very much nor the boring salad. Cocktail was good. Beer not so good.

Pros: Cocktails, large choice, Nice View

Cons: Only few vegan options , Not quite the place to eat

Not for Vegans!

I read somewhere that this place catered for vegans - it doesn't. The waiter suggested I have a pizza without cheese or a vegan arancino (not on the menu). I opted for the latter. It came on a plastic tray and had obviously just come out of a microwave. It was really dire both in texture and taste. However, if you fancy having a drink and watching the world go by, this is a great place to do that - and the waiters are entertaining too!

Pros: Location on Corso Umberto, Entertaining waiters

Cons: Not for vegans

Cheap Eats

Compared to the rest of Toarmina, this is quite cheap. Additional 10% discount for students enrolled in Scuola Babilonia. Though you get what you pay for: not the greatest atmosphere, feels more like a American deli, and food is far from gourmet. On the other hand, most of Taormina's restaurants all serve the same things at highly inflated prices and don't have a separate veggie menu. This one does have a vegetarian section in the menu composed of sub sandwiches. Vegan is possible, but this place better suited for vegetarians. Vegans will likely be disappointed. Not a panacea of veg food, but my opinion is it's the best restaurant for vegetarians in Taormina.

For drinks, it has *the best* beer selection in Taormina. Good beer is extremely hard to find in Italy, but Licchio's has imports from around Europe and also Italian craft beer (birra artigianale).

I waffle between 3 and 4 stars. In a veg friendly city I'd probably give it 3 stars, but judging it based on what else Taormina has to offer for both price and selection this deli stands out in the city. Plus I love beer, so that gives it a bump.

Pros: Cheap, Excellent beer

Cons: Atmosphere, Could have better food selection
