Back for first time in years due to Reno Vegan Chef Challenge!

Liberty has been hit or miss for me since I became vegan in 2017. I liked the house-made veggie burger they used to offer, but you still had to ask for it without mayo, cheese, etc. It's a bummer to be "the person" who is the one asking for "accommodations" at the table like that. Over the past few years, they really seemed to have gone more "meat-heavy" on the menu. So I was thrilled that they joined the Reno Vegan Chef Challenge (January 2023) and they were the FIRST restaurant we went to as a family to try out! The Wood Roasted Cauliflower was delicious and I loved the creative flavor combination of the Cucumber Mojito Sorbet as so many restaurants seem to forget that vegans also like dessert. I enjoyed the Vegan Calzone but I guess I was expecting it to be more savory than sweet. It was not as filling as I would have hoped without a hearty vegan protein source. Overall it was a great effort! I would love to see them offer more vegan options on their menu in the future (not just vegan cheese for pizza or limited-time specials for the vegan chef challenge) - our family is blended with vegan and omni preferences and it makes for a much more enjoyable dining experience when everyone can order from the menu without having to request special accommodations.

Pros: Participated in Reno Vegan Chef Challenge, Fun lively atmosphere downtown

Cons: No vegan designations on menu, no plant-based protein option - tofu/tempeh?

Just OK for WFPB

I was there with family, who've made Liberty Food and Wine a go-to. Huge menu, but if you are WFPB there were only two items that you can choose from...Avocado Toast and a Veggie Burger. Both items required tweaking. The avocado toast's presentation was less than appetizing, and at $9 was overpriced for one piece of toast (not whole grain). The veggie burger, served on rustic French bread, comes grilled with cheese and mayo (oil, eggs and dairy) unless ordered without. Came with a dressed side salad, and I asked for the dressing on the side, but they ignored that so I couldn't eat it. Liberty has a great reputation and I respect that, but they don't really cater to WFPBNO so I'll go elsewhere if I'm really hungry.

Pros: Friendly server

Cons: Limited choices for REAL vegans.

5 Star Sophisticated Dining!!!

Unbelievable! We were up in Reno visiting friends and my best friend took us here for dinner before a concert. It's in the heart of downtown, less than 5 minutes from the Riverwalk. The wine selection is wonderful, and my husband loved his whiskey martini. But... The FOOD! The food was out of this world! We let Micha, our server, know we were vegan and then ordered the tofu terraine, carrot tapenade, heirloom tomato salad, and hummus. Everything, especially the terraine, was incredible! The vibe is cool foodie, you know this place is all about sophisticated dining. Giant floor to ceiling windows open up so big you could literally walk through them to enter. A must for any vegan visiting Reno!
