Solid pub grub - Edit
Leith Depot offers a few of vegan varieties with more than one option, so we had choices to make. My lad and I settled on sharing the vegan platter and the eggplant bake. Both were tasting and generous in portions. The platter had battered pickles that were balanced out with hummous , olives and bruschetta. The eggplant bake consisted of a skin of eggplant that encased a bean and tomato tasty filling. A selection of tap beers made for a great lunch retreat from the rain.

Nice place, smoked tofu nori was odd - Edit
I had a really nice time here with my mom. They label which wines are vegan on the menu, so we had some wine and enjoyed the chill atmosphere, friendly people, and all the cute dogs in the bar. I won’t talk about my mom’s meal because it wasn’t vegan (although she loved it). I had the smoked tofu cashew nori rolls and they were very odd. Strange puréed texture and taste, but the sauce served with them was good. Still, nice to have many vegan options on the menu. And it was open on a Monday afternoon, which many other places in the area weren’t.

Alcune opzioni vegan - Edit
Nel menu sono riportate chiaramente le opzioni vegane. I piatti sono molto buoni e composti da tante cose diverse. Margarita molto buono, unica pecca l'utilizzo di sale grosso.

Yummy vegan brunch - try the kedgeree! - Edit
Leith Depot has lots of lovely little vegan dishes to snack on, plus a few main dishes perfect for a late brunch. All the options are clearly marked on the menu with a (VG).
Read moreThe full vegan breakfast is a solid shout but honestly doesn’t offer anything new or exciting over other vegan breakfasts found elsewhere in the Edinburgh. With mushrooms, sausages, scrambled tofu and spinach, this is pretty much your standard breakfast offering that is going to fill a hole, at least. Great if you are in the area or have a hangover that needs curing.
The kedgeree, however, is a different story. This is the first time I have seen vegan kedgeree on a menu so I had to give it a try – and it did not disappoint. The use of coconut milk made this dish really creamy, with a generous helping of chunky smoked tofu stirred throughout. One taste and I was in love.
Leith Depot is an excellent option for a late brunch or bite to eat near the Foot of the Walk.

Vegan Platter - Edit
Leith Depot are doing some great vegan food right now. I was in last week and shared the vegan platter with a friend. The platter had stuffed vine leaves, mixed olives, smoked tomato hummus, sweet potato wedges (they were more like fries), beer battered pickles, vegan cheese on toast, chimmi churri pesto, bourbon bloody mary ketchup, olive oil and balsamic. It was also came with some extra bread and crackers. There's also a daily vegan special, some side dishes from the platter and a chocolate and avocado mousse.
Read moreThe only downside is both times I've been in I've had to wait to order because the kitchen has been busy. So it might be worth giving yourself a bit of extra time.
Pros: Good value for money, Great selection of food , friendly staff
Cons: Wait for kitchen both times I've been

Quality Over Quantity - Edit
The sign outside Leith Depot said they had seafood and also vegan options, so we decided we had to give it a go. After all, it was a cute new place just across the road. However, they didn't have that many vegan options on the menu, which was a little disappointing, and they were more salad-like than I would usually go for.
Read moreThen the vegan dish arrived, and it was amazing. It was some kind of warm salad with kale and pears and walnuts and I can't even remember what else, but it was exciting and delicious. When I saw it on the menu I thought it wasn't a combination you would usually think would be good, but it was a great surprise.
Also the service was great, there was just one guy working and he was super friendly and the atmosphere was just lovely and really really chill.
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, The pears and walnuts
Cons: Not many options, Could do with more junk food, Smells like a seafood restaurant
