they have all my heart (read the comment) - Edit
the first rule at tierlieben is: "everybody should feel at ease" and they really get to live by that.
Read morethere are about 80 animals, most of them rescued and everyone has a personal story. the animals have lots of space at their habitats but if they manage to escape from it (e. g. the small sheep jump through the fence sometimes and a couple of hens can just fly high enough), they are allowed to run around at the whole sanctuary. the few mother-child couples are allowed to stay together forever and they love it.
on open days, there always is a guided tour so you can get to know the animals and maybe pet them if they want (mostly the sheep love it since many were bottle-fed).
the sanctuary is financed through animal sponsorships, donations and volunteer work. you can ask to make a bfd (bundesfreiwilligendienst), an internship or to wwoof there.
sometimes there are special events such as going for a walk with the sheep (schafwanderung) which require bookings/cost money. this is also to finance the whole project (plus the sheep love it).
twice a week, the sanctuary is open ONLY TO KIDS. it's kind of a pedagogic program where they can play, help feeding the animals (i. e. chicken and bunnies, not the big ones), do handicrafts, bake something (vegan of course) etc. the kids love it, many come here for years. during school holidays, there usually is a holiday program for kids as well (costs money).
very, very worth supporting - the animals are soo cute, the team is cheerful and a visit is a very wholsesome experience. i recommend a visit with all my heart.
