Good for a small town - Edit
Very nice to have some options a decent drive from a big city.
Read moreThe waitstaff was knowledgeable of veganism and made it known the chefs were too. Make sure to mention you are vegan.
Only a salad was marked vegan on the menu, but multiple options (including the portobello sandwich and king oyster mushroom scallops) could be made vegan upon request.
Our meal was very tasty (the not scallops, needed to order without eggs and honey), but certainly not very filling. We needed snacks later in the night.
Pros: Options in a small town, Staff knowledgeable of veganism , Cute interior
Cons: Expensive for the amount of food you get, Need to modify most menu items

Creative, masterfully seasoned Scandi-fare - Edit
Coming by vegan cuisine in small town Central Minnesota is quite a challenge. I was surprised and delighted to discover Leader, an unexpectedly hip space with vegan food flavor and quality of a major metro area.
Read moreThe Norwegian Vegan Bowl is unlike anything I’ve eaten. The masterful flavor profile had me telling the server to thank the chef for their exquisite creation! I even asked if they’d consider selling their seasoning blend (base of cardamom and nutmeg among other aromatics). The server said they get this question frequently so it appears I am not the only one who’s impressed.
While the bowl was fresh, flavorful and novel, the portobello burger was familiar. Ask server to make sure it’s served on a vegan bun.
They use delicious jams and pickled onions for their sandwiches, burgers and bowls (tomato jam, lingonberry jam etc), which means you don’t have to deal with boring when omitting mayo and cream-based sauces.
Sides: Swedish Cucumber Salad (vegan), MN Sota Salad (hold the cheese) and Beet Salad (hold the cheese)
They also serve coffee drinks and have oat milk and almond milk. I had an oat milk latte that was pretty solid.
Pleasantly surprised with Leader on all counts.😄
Pros: Vegan items clearly marked, Flavorful and interesting choices, Many vegetarian items can be easily made vegan
Cons: No vegan breakfast options listed, Limited vegan options on all-day menu
