Tasty, fresh food & generous portions. :)

I had a late lunch at the cafe with my omnivore parents who are in their seventies. They ordered soup of the day (lentil and tomato soup) with a grilled cheese sandwich, and a cheese and onion pie with salad, coleslaw and tortilla chips. I ordered the vegan mezze (homemade falafel, salad, houmous, chill sauce and bread). We also ordered a classic hot chocolate with whipped cream, chai latte and watermelon lemonade. The food was delicious! The pie and the mezze had really generous portions of salad which were crisp and fresh. The soup had a nice level of spiciness/heat to it. The houmous was homemade and tasty with a nice texture. The bread with the mezze seemed to be a nice, fluffy focaccia which was great for soaking up flavours and cleaning the plate! Everyone was happy with their meal and quite tempted by the other meals. We all left the cafe pleasantly stuffed. I picked up a chunk of vegan gin and tonic cake to take away and we all shared it in the evening. The chunk of cake was pretty generous with a nice, pillowy, dark sponge component (with blackstrap molasses I think?) and then a thin, tasty layer of icing with a slice of lemon on top. Everyone enjoyed it.
The cafe is conventiently located near to the Laxey tram station and near the post office. It was pretty busy when we were there (a sunny Sunday afternoon), staff were nice and the music was fun (a little bit Motown, a little bit Stevie Wonder).

Pros: Fresh and tasty food, Good portion sizes, Convenient location

Cons: Quite small but there are outside tables, Closes at 4.30pm so not a dinner option

Smallish cafe, great food.

We both enjoyed the veggie breakfast. Not bland but full of taste. Not a lot of gluten free food but a wide choice of began and veggie. Pleasant service too. Almost backing onto the Manx Electric Railway station.

Great food, friendly service

Nice cafe/coffee shop in the centre of Laxey, a good range of vegan food including cakes for dessert, also vegetarian options.

Pros: Great cakes, Good service, Nice staff

Cons: You can't book a table ( too small so fair enough)

Love the vibe!

I went here with my husband for the first time the other day and the vibe and decor was fab in The Laxey Kitchen. I ordered the Vegan Chicken Burger and my husband ordered the Beyond Burger (both with wedges).
We both really enjoyed the food however, I was expecting a more homemade "chicken" burger but it was a Fry's Burger (which I love so much!) It's just I could have made it at home. However, it's good to know if I wanted one out and about I know where to get it.
The meal was dressed with a side salad which was ok.
I will definitely go again because I want to try more of their (what appears to be) homemade stuff like the sticky tofu etc.
Love the vibe, enjoyed the food but just wished there was a bit more umph in the dishes we ordered. Can't wait to try their other stuff and when I do I will review again!

Thank you for visiting us, I'm glad you enjoyed our vibe. 95% of our menu is home-made, in-house and we have a fabulous ever changing specials menu. We pride ourselves on our interesting and creative dishes, salads, sandwiches, soups, cakes and bakes. Out of our entire menu, we have maybe 3-4 items that we don't make ourselves, the 'chicken' burger and the 'beyond burger' being 2 of those. These are crowd pleasing dishes and we sell an awful lot of them, but they certainly don't reflect our ethos, food and menu as a whole. The chicken burger is a good one, it's served on a toasted brioche bun with homemade vegan slaw and a charred corn cob.

We work hard to provide a delicious, healthy and eclectic menu, we don't deep fry - ever. Hence why there isn't a house made option 🙏

Brave

Brave move to try a vegetarian place here. Quality needs to be good to do well. It is, and they are (currently). I love the vegan bagel and very nice coffee too.

Best place on IOM for vegan food

There’s nothing about the Laxey kitchen not to like, the staff are friendly and the food is amazing, in fact the only downside is it’s small but usually busy so can sometimes be difficult to find a seat at busy times. But the meals are amazing with loads of vegan options, the staff really know their stuff and they have a menu but then a specials board so there’s tonnes odd options. Special mention has to be given to the cakes and brownies which are out of this world

Welcome addition to the Island

Busy little Café serving fresh Vegetarian and Vegan food. Great selections for both, you won't be disappointed. Large selection of Vegan cakes, cup-cakes, brownies etc. Fresh OJ, coffee's and teas.

Pros: Loads of Vegan choices, Friendly staff, great atmosphere.

Cons: Let's just say it's cosy, no real room to expand, But may be able to put tables and chairs at the , Side in the open space on sunny days!

Amazing cakes, friendly staff and a great atmosphere

All the cakes we have tried here have been first class. Most are vegan and the portions are generous. If they have their famous Gin & Tonic cake when you visit, make sure to get a piece to go even if you see something else you cannot resist, and you will!

Pros: Best vegan cakes on the island, Generous servings, Great atmosphere (old butcher shop!)

Cons: Pastel de Nata was not vegan and looked yummy!, Not open at night haha
