skimpy on the protein

i got the vegan chicken taquito plate and i was given morsels of the “meat”. i cut into one and it was 95% air inside and the TINIEST little bits of protein on the bottom. like when they fell out i couldn’t even find any on my plate.

also they didn’t give me any beans. i was disappointed when i got my plate. just rice and salad. i assumed maybe bc the beans might have lard? but all the other pics on here have beans too😡

Excellent

A large selection of vegan options. I got the taquitos with plant-based chicken, since they are the same owners as Cielito Lindo which is known for their taquitos. It was delicious and very flavorful! Very friendly staff as well.

I've since had the crispy tacos and mole poblano, both also with plant-based chicken. So far the taquitos are my favorite, but the other things were pretty good too.

Amazing v food with the same, authentic taste

Seems to be the only vegan friendly place in Olvera, this place is a gift. They serve various dishes made with tofu, plant based meat, v cheese and v crema. I kind of wonder why it’s not just fully plant based at this point, but I also know many of the elders in the area probably wouldn’t support that.
They know what vegan means, what we need, and how to make food the way our grandmothers would- with love, cultural heritage, y mucho sabor!

Plant-Based Dishes!

There is a section of the menu that is completely plant-based, marked PB. I was told that the cheese and sour cream for all PB items are also vegan. My PB chicken enchiladas rancheras were very good and filling. The meal was pricey, but I’m very happy to have had a filling vegan Mexican meal.

Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Multiple plant-based dishes

Cons: Pricey

Chicken Taquitos Time

This place is down on the end of Olvera street furthest away from Union Station.

They had 9 choices (see pic)

The meal was satisfying and good portion for the cost $15.

My only beef is the salsa - too basic. Basic tomato 🍅 salsa I would expect to find in the Midwest. When you are down in the cradle of Los Angeles on Olvera street I want complex banging Salsa! Be better!

Pros: Portions , Cost

Cons: Salsa needs work brah!

Nice Find

Was pleasantly surprised to stumble on this place and find so many options (soy or vegan chicken). I was using my Happy Cow app in the area and this did not pop up. But a chance stop to read their menu I realized I was in luck (ate with omnivore friends). It’s at the end of the plaza. Food was tasty and fresh. I thought their beans were amazing.

Pros: Many options to choose from, Vegan sour cream, Fast and friendly service

Literally the best Mexican food I’ve ever had and I’ve been vegan for 9 years. 100% recommend the green salsa enchiladas with soy meat and they soy meat and potato burrito. Don’t delay. Go now! 😋

Vegan section on menu

I enjoyed the soy tacos 🌮 which came with vegan cheese and sour cream and a side of tortilla chips and salsa. The food came very fast and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I appreciate that they have a clearly marked vegan section 🌱 and offer plant based meats. Would eat here again!

Inauthentic

If you grew up in a Mexican/Latinx household I would suggest another place. The burrito that I ordered with my partner did not taste authentic. The salsa tasted like diced tomatoes. When I asked the staff for a different, new salsa, the one they gave me was worse. Do not waste your money. This was a disappointment.

Cons: Salsa

Really good and spicy

Loved that they had a vegetarian section on their menu, just had to omit cheese and crema. Very good flavors, would only add more veggies next time.

Delicious!

Good portions and lots of options! I had the soyrizo and potato burrito and it was filling and really good. Also make sure to tell them no cheese and no sour cream.

They have a separate section for the soy options. Be sure to say you're vegan so they can accommodate . I had the soy mole, which i can't remember the last time i have had some this good! From the salsa to the actual entree was really tasty!

Reasonable Mexican

We came here while enjoying the Day of the Dead festivities. The line was long, understandably, but we were able to peruse the menu at lengths before ordering. I got the tostada which was topped with a mound of lettuce with some Pan fried soy crumbles and avocado. When I asked for the soy option, they were prompted to ask whether I wanted cheese or sour cream, which I declined. Having vegan versions of cheese would have made this better, but I was happy enough.

My partner had the pepian mole with a soy enchilada. Not sure if that sauce was Vegan (we didn't ask, but traditionally it should be), but it was off menu and still delicious.
