Marinara pizza to die for

I did not know one could make a marinara pizza with essentially no toppings so divine. The crust was unbelievable, the tomato sauce incredible, and the olive oil and fresh oregano made it stand out. This pizza was on par with, if not better than, the best pizzas with cheese I ever had before going vegan.

Nice Italian pizza!

I am Italian and really appreciated this pizza.. Although it says Neapolitan it is thin, huge and tasty.. I felt like being in Italy again! It was a bit expensive but not so much for being in Tokyo! Super friendly staff!

Pros: Perfect consistent, Huge , Nice atmosphere and staff

Cons: Expensive , One vegan option

Authentic Italian pizza in Tokyo

English below 👇

Pizza lovers should be very happy to know that L’antica Pizzeria de Michele, the legendary Naples pizzeria founded in 1870 and featured in the book/ movie Eat, Pray, Love, has a branch in Tokyo! In Ebisu, to be exact.

The pizzeria is best known for its margherita (vegetarian), and marinara (vegan) pies. We ordered a marinara and settled in to wait. The dining room is large, with high ceilings and a clay wood-fired oven taking pride of place.

The pizza arrived. It’s nothing super fancy— tomato, oregano, garlic, and olive oil. But it tasted so, so good. You can see why they’ve been in business for so long.

On our way out we were given complimentary shots of espresso. A perfect finish to a delicious meal.

If you love pizza, or even if you just like it, this is worth trying. Buon appetito! 🇮🇹
