Amazing chocolates - Edit
Had the messed up chocolates that were only $1 and they were so dang good. Didn’t end up getting food because they had no way to toast/warm it up (ex: chocolate croissant, savory cheese croissant)

A Must Visit in NY State - Edit
I wish I lived nearby, because this is my new favorite coffee shop. I’ve been vegan for ten years and I can’t recall ever finding a completely vegan coffee shop, let alone a confectionary! There were so many options I found it impossible to choose and we had to go back later. I had the rose cardamom latte and a chipotle cream cheese croissant, and I can’t recommend them both enough. I also love their ethics, and felt so comforted and at home with the decor.
Read moreNoelle rang us up and was knowledgeable and friendly, and Avalon made our drinks so skillfully (really good microfoam on those lattes!) I’m gonna try to squeeze in another visit before we leave the area because it’s by far my favorite place we’ve gone.
There is only one negative thing I have to say- it is great that they are so up front about using a lot of nuts, and make you aware about cross contamination. That being said, it would be nice to know exactly what nuts are in which items. My boyfriend is fine with cross contamination, he just can’t eat a few kinds of nuts directly. It would be nice to know whether it’s, say, almonds (which he can eat), or pecans (which he cannot). I wanted to share my food with him and was a little sad I couldn’t. But other than that my experience was perfect!
Pros: Amazing coffee, Delicious pastries, Great service/atmosphere
Cons: Not specific about nuts in pastries

Favorite cafe ever - Edit
Everything I've had here is absolutely incredible and I will keep coming back every time I'm in the area. I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you get. It's clear so much care goes into every item. The atmosphere and location are also great(it makes a great stop along the rail trail!).

So many fun flavors of vegan chocolate - Edit
We loved the hot chocolate. Their maple honeycomb is delicious. All of the bonbons are beautiful, and they have fun seasonal flavors. They also had a vegan pecan croissant from Little Loaf Bakery, which was great! The outdoor seating is pleasant as well. Definitely worth making the trip!

They should stick to desserts - Edit
I don't want to ding their rating because I am OBSESSED with their chocolates. And the Commissary's sweet treats and ice cream were marvelous. But they served us a disappointing and arguably gross lunch. My girlfriend got the mac and cheese, which she said was fine, but I almost gagged on the bite I took of it, I found it so nasty. Their internet on the way over told me they had beans and greens, which I was looking forward to getting, but when we arrived they said they were out. So I ordered what they called an "Italian sandwich" which, when it landed on our table, was like someone had dumped a bunch of oily vegetables on some suboptimal bread. I choked it down wishing we had gotten burritos at the nearby place and just gotten our desserts here.

Def one of the BEST! - Edit
Not only are these some of the best chocolates in this country, but they also manage to keep the prices fair on both their products and the shipping costs.

Too good! - Edit
I don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse that I don’t live closer. My boyfriend and I stopped here on a road trip and we ordered the chai latte, peppermint mocha, and a little chocolate truffle. If it was more convenient, I’d be going back for a whole box. A very cool and creative atmosphere and some delicious treats! Plus it’s always nice to have options that aren’t typically veganized (mac&cheese and chocolates).

An experience in excellence - Edit
I’ve been visiting here for years since they opened. It’s never even subpar. Yes, they get busy and there can be a wait for food but enjoy the atmosphere and your drinks while you wait. The pricing reflects an establishment that focuses on local, quality ingredients, ethical consumerism, and treating employees with respect for their input.

Marry me commissary? - Edit
They used to get half my paychecks and I feel zero shame. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is soooooooooo good here. Like I have licked the container of that mac & cheese with cashew béchamel every single time kind of good. The chocolates are perfection and they sell sweet maresa’s macarons (which I will commit murder for)! Their daily specials make me want to move back to the area. They got me making my own sumac lemonade and I have even tried to mimic their stroganoff recipe too.
Read moreThey offer such a nice hangout place for the community. Their gift wall and specials are so cool; like free chocolate if you tell them about a good deed you’ve done that day! I still stalk their Facebook hard for cooking inspiration even though I now live an hour away. The owner is a cooking/baking creative genius! I so beyond recommend this place. Easily my favorite!

My partner love it here! Especially chocolate and baked goods. Visit sister store nearby Lagusta's Luscious for amazing vegan chocolate and during summer, INCREDIBLE ice cream/ice cream chocolate cookie chip sandwiches, ice cream bars, etc. We also appreciate the merch of local artists on sale there as well as thrifty clothes.

Was looking for an energy boost on a long road trip, stopped in and had the most fabulous peanut butter/caramel/chocolate ice cream bar. Wow was that good. Would love to come back and sample the Socialist Sliding Scale Soup. Loved the vibe.

Amazing food, expensive - Edit
The best chocolates, icecream, and Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Do note it IS expensive. However, they pay their staff fair wages and give benefits. Helps to know that. If you’re looking for a quick affordable lunch though this isn’t it. Highly recommend regardless!

They had a unsweetened hazelnut latte that was awesome. And a special drink called a walk in the woods that had cider, juniper and mocha which was outstanding. The Mac and cheese and waffles look incredible too !

Good food, great sweets - Edit
Got the roasted seasonal veggies (they had assorted radish slices, and they were incredible) and the socialist sliding scale soup (pay what you want!), which was pretty bland, but once I added some of their seasonings on offer it was pretty satisfying. They sell most of what they sell at the nearby chocolate shop here; there was actually a much wider selection of delish macarons here, and there was only one kind at the chocolate shop. All vegan!

SO GOOD but on the expensive side. - Edit
I wasn’t expecting Lagustas to be more than just a sweets shop but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety. They serve drinks, desserts and light food items like soups, salads and sandwiches. Myself and my friend loved our drink, my friend who isn’t vegan said it was the best coffee drink she’s ever had. The downside is that a few items are super pricey an ice cream sandwich runs $9. I bought one and it was tasty and decently sized but not worth the price if I’m being honest. I’ll come back for a drink/bite but will skip the dessert in the future.

That Rice Pudding Tho! - Edit
I went here for breakfast and was happy to find out that they had oat milk for my latte. The food options weren't too numerous, however, with not much actual breakfast food on the menu. I decided to get the rice pudding for breakfast, and wow! They heated it up (worth the 10 min. wait) and topped it with sliced almonds, diced mango, whipped "cream" and a splash of brandy. So good!! Bottom line, don't let the lack of choices deter you from going here...what they do offer is amazing. It is fairly pricey, but they do have a "sliding socialist scale" item on the menu that allows those less fortunate to pay less.
