Ottima scelta👍 - Edit
Ho mangiato alla Zagara a pranzo, devo dire che il cibo è ottimo e c'è una quantità modesta di opzioni vegetariane, un po' meno vegane, consiglio di mettere qualche piatto in più, per il resto servizio e personale ottimo👍

Delicious and reasonably priced - Edit
Taormina isn’t the most vegan friendly town so I was so pleased that Zagara had a vegan menu. Everything I ordered from it (bruschetta, insalata mista, and pesto spaghetti) was to die for. The prices were so reasonable and the restaurant was very cute. I will definitely be coming back.

Amazing vegan options - Edit
We went here for my birthday on our first night in Taormina as it had the fullest vegan menu we could find. Didn’t disappoint! The pistachio pesto was delicious and it was great to not have to ask for loads of alterations to make it vegan. The bruschetta was the best I had all trip! Super friendly staff, they even surprised me with a bowl of strawberries as a birthday pudding as there were no vegan desserts which was lovely and brought us homemade almond wine at the end of the meal. I wish I could rate 5 stars!

Good effort at vegan options - Edit
Had the bruschetta to start which I found the best on my travels to Sicily! Sicilian salad as a side which was also lovely and refreshing. Then I had the pesto spaghetti for main which was slightly bland but good portion size. Was disappointed to find out none of the gnocchi was vegan (it’s made with eggs) as a review earlier said it was vegan and I was looking forward to it the whole trip. Easy for a vegan to eat there as there’s a whole vegan menu.

Tasty food with mix and match pasta and sauces. Lots of clearly labelled, interesting vegan options. The fennel and pinenut sauce was a revelation.

I loved the restaurant, the options in the menu. The fact that they adapted for vegans and made that a stand in the menu. Thank you!! I wish I had known of them before!

Good vegan options, tasty food - Edit
We had walked past this restaurant several times in our time in Taormina without thinking it looked appealing. It's on a busy road and looks quite basic. But we wanted takeaway one night so gave it a try. Lots of vegan options marked on their menu and they were proactively very clear about which pasta had egg in/not. The food was tasty but portions were a bit small for the price.

One of our favorite restaurants - Edit
Go to Zagara! It's a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view in the heart of Taormina. They have a page or two of their menu dedicated to vegans! And GET THE GNOCCHI - it's so, so good. One of the highlights of my entire trip. (Gnocchi is vegan, but isn't in a vegan sauce so isn't listed on the vegan menu. Get it in a vegan sauce!)

Vegan options! - Edit
A restaurant in Sicily with actual "vegan options". Okay, it consists of salads and pasta's but still. If you've been to Taormina you know how hard it is to find vegan food. So for that reason I respect this restaurant a lot.
Read moreIt is also pretty easy to find. Maybe a little noisy with all the traffic passing by but you can just decide to ignore that.
I ordered a vegan pasta with some green pesto and as much I would love to praise it just because it is one of the few vegan options out there I will just say that for someone loving super simple food, this dish is a great option. For me personally, this pasta, was monotonous and I feel like it could have easily been on another level with let's say cherry tomatoes, chilli, garlic and more herbs. All though "Al dente" and "vegan" it does not mean I immediately think of 5 stars, even if I would like to. I've eaten so much good food in my life that it really comes down to perception. But to be fair, I did just try out one vegan dish. You should really give the restaurant a go and be hopeful that they truly see the value of being one of the few Sicilian restaurants that serve vegan food and do everything they can to become the best restaurant in Taormina. I cheer for La Zagara!
Pros: Lots of vegan options

Lovely food - not specifically vegan. - Edit
I didn’t look at the reviews until we were seated. I am pleased really as we loved our meal. Not specifically vegan - but I had a lovely mixed salad and a delicious spaghetti with almond pesto. You can get lovely pasta everywhere in Taormina but this was still really nice and the staff were very sweet.

Very poor - Edit
When you see the ‘vegan’ menu at this place it looks like a great option, but the two pasta dishes we tried were bordering on inedible - one of them smelt suspiciously of chicken soup/stock, which we (perhaps unwisely) didn’t question, assuming no decent restaurant would use chicken in a dish labelled vegan... we both had bad stomachs the next day, which may or may not have been a result of the food. However, the unappetising dishes accompanied by the moody wait staff mean we wouldn’t think of going back. Plenty of places in town serve delicious vegan bruschetta and tasty vegetables.

Totally okay, not great - Edit
We went to this place this evening and the outside dining area was full so we got a table inside (with 2 other groups of guests). We had to wait for at least 30 minutes to order and another 30-50 minutes until our pasta dishes was served. I got the vegan tagliatelle with wild mushrooms and cherry tomatoes and my partner got the tomato pesto (which isn't green pesto with additional tomatoes like we and our tables neighbors thought). It was fine but the mushrooms tastes like they've been frozen (although our table neighbors told us that they're just cooked in a different way) and everything was a bit bland. They definitely lack acidity in these two dishes.
Read moreIt was not worth the wait and definitely not worth the additional €5 (I guess €2,5 per person) that you have to pay for service. Two vegan pasta dishes and two glasses of white wine costed €40.

The place looks nice, seating inside or semi-outside. They have a separate vegan menu with regular not particularly interesting dishes and so is the taste. A disappointing experience. The food was bland and tasteless and seemed to be prepared without commitment or knowledge of quality.

A most wonderful restaurant for vegans and vegetarians - Edit
I don't think I can add anything to what's already been said, but this is a restaurant of the highest quality, with an entire menu page devoted to vegan dishes. I was in Taormina for 3 weeks, and went there almost every night for dinner. The servers were warm and welcoming, and treated me as a regular, bringing me a bottle of sparkling water without even asking. The dishes are beautifully presented, garnished with flowers, herbs or tiny branches of little fruits. As I'm a lacto-vegetarian I was thrilled to be able to enjoy - for the first time ever - eggless Italian desserts. The cannolo, mousse and panna cotta were simply divine, although very rich, so I didn't have them very often. Tuesday, their closing day, was always a sad day for me, and the other restaurants I tried didn't begin to compare. Although Taormina is an expensive town, the prices at La Zagara were - if anything - lower than those of much lesser quality.

Amazing Vegan Food - Edit
I found this restaurant on Happy Cow before visiting Taormina and ended up eating there every day of my holiday except Tuesday when it is closed.
Read moreThe food is just amazing, so much effort put in by the chefs to make delicious and beautifully presented vegan food - not just 'veganised' options. (I really would have loved to take home a bucket full of the Trapanese pesto!) By Taormina standards (Toarmina is an expensive place) the restaurant is not expensive. The staff are lovely and made me feel very welcome and comfortable - a real plus when travelling and eating solo.
Do book, especially for the evening and if you want to eat on the terrace: This is rightly a very popular restaurant.
Pros: Delicious vegan food, Whole page of vegan options, Lovely staff
Cons: No vegan deserts except fruit

Excellent for vegans - Edit
As noted in the other reviews, this restaurant is a rare gem because it has a page in its menu dedicated to vegan dishes (15 dishes in total).
Read moreWe had the spaghetti al pesto trapanese (pesto sauce made from pine nuts, almonds and basil) and the tagliolini con porcini e pomodorini (thin tagliatele with wild mushrooms and cherry tomatoes). Both were excellent.
Vegan menu consists of salads (EUR 6-9), pasta dishes (EUR 10-14), soups (EUR 7-9), and a couple of other dishes - grilled vegetables and caponata.
Portions are not huge but I'd say that this place offers good value compared to some of the other restaurants in Taormina. The restaurant is in a nice spot in the centre of town. The staff are friendly and speak English, and the menu has English translations.
My only criticism is that none of the desserts are suitable for vegans other than fresh fruit, but you can always wander over to Stecco Natura Taormina (ice lolly place - highly recommended) or one of the many granita stalls to get your fix.
All in all, an excellent find.
Pros: Entire page dedicated to vegan dishes, High quality food, Nice location
Cons: Lack of vegan desserts

Expensive - Edit
On looking at the menu I had high hopes for this restaurant. Whilst the food was delicious it was very expensive in relation to portion size. I had the caponatina which cost €9 but I would say it was more of a starter portion. I ate the three slices of bread provided but I still left hungry and slightly disappointed. If I had time I would still return to try the pasta dishes based on the other reviews of this restaurant. Perhaps they would be more filling.

best vegan menu in taormina - Edit
This is a wonderful place to enjoy italian vegan fare. There are delicious options for the whole foods route if one wants to stay strict, or some great pasta dishes to tuck into in this beautiful seaside community. Serves meat, so it's a great choice if you happen to be traveling with friends or family who insist on eating the dead bodies of other animals. And who knows, let them try a few bites of your food and they may come to agree that the carnage is completely unnecessary.
