Solid vegan breakfast

Wife and I split an apple cinnamon waffle and a breakfast burrito. They ran out of tortillas but made it just fine with a crepe. Delicious food, good coffee, and one of the most extensive vegan breakfast menus I've ever seen.

Pros: Extensive vegan breakfast menu, Great waffles, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Ran out of tortillas, A bit heavy on the vegan cheese, Lemons and cucumbers in the water!!!

Skip the sweet crepes

My experience was similar to those others made and described above. I first came here for breakfast and ordered the tofu scramble which was good and a vanilla latte with almond milk. Didn't tast any vanilla (maybe they forgot) but it was good coffee and the biggest latte ever for a really good price. I skipped the sweet stuff because it was just too expensive. So off we went and everyone was happy with their breakfast.
I returned a few days later because I had to work and the place was so nice and the people so welcoming that I knew they would let me work. Also, my husband always makes crepes for breakfast and I wanted to see how a French pro makes the same dish. I ordered the pina colada crepe. I was told the ice cream wasn't ready yet but should be soon and then I'd get it. I told her that it was important to me to try it. I'm so sorry to say that the crepe was awful. It had nothing but pineapple (some of it already brown) and completely uninspired and not even roasted coconut shreds in it and it came with what was supposedly a mango sauce. It was so sour I could not taste any mango and if you poured it over the crepe it disintegrated. Not good and over all so tangy that my tongue was still somewhat numb (you knwo the way it gets with sour pineapple) 2 hours later. The kicker was that I never got my ice cream and was charged full price!
I'm not saying don't go there because it's a lovely place and they obviously try very hard. Just skip the sweet crepes.... and be smarter than I was and ask not to pay for what you didn't receive ;)

Pros: enormours coffee, tofu scrambe, friendly service

Cons: prices, Sweet crepes not so sweet

Skip the crêpes, get the mille-feuille

I singled this one out as a must-visit while researching vegan eats in the area. I loved crêpes and still have very fond memories of a meal I had at a crêperie in Quebec City a few years back before becoming vegan. Crêpes, especially the savory kind, are one of those things that is very tricky to veganize, so I was very intrigued to see how they would do it here.

We ordered two savory crêpes, one with veggies and one with tempeh. They were just OK, nothing like the ones I remember. Turned out they simply substituted vegan cheese for the dairy kind and called it a day. It was the dominant flavor in the crêpes, almost to the point of being overpowering. Too bad, I'm not a fan of that stuff. Considering the quality and the portion size, I found the prices unjustifiably hefty. On the plus side, the mille-feuille was fantastic, which was weird as I never liked the regular version. Also, the staff was super friendly and checked on us often.

Without a car, we had to trek a good half hour from our hotel in WeHo to get here, and we are fast walkers. There wasn't much around to see or do, so we really went out of our way to come eat here. My partner did enjoy the meal very much though, so that was still a win I guess.

Pros: vegan mille-feuille, very friendly service

Cons: meh crêpes, price, location

Couldn't resist a croissant

I couldn't resist getting a croissant breakfast sandwich because I have not had one since becoming vegan and it was once one of my favorite things. Maybe I should have stuck with a crepe since that's in the restaurant's name and everything. The croissant was really only OK, not as crispy and buttery as I'd like. But they don't make the croissants on location and I thought the tofu and sauce and veggie bacon was good. Also, I liked that I could get a side salad instead of something heavier, and I thought it was a tasty little salad.

My biggest problem with this place was that the owner, thinking he was being nice, told me I could "cure" my type 1 diabetes by going vegan. Vegans, listen up! Don't say this, it's untrue and it's insulting! Nothing cures type 1, not even what those people did in that documentary Simply Raw. Also, dude, I *am* a vegan! That's what brought me to your adorable creperie. There are nothing but great reasons to go vegan, but curing type 1 diabetes is, sadly, not one of them. Type 2, sure. But not what I've got. The owner's insistence on arguing with me about this and telling me his wife is a holistic healer or whatever so she "knows" just made me mad. So my view of the place was colored by this.

Still, I know he meant well and just wants to spread the joy of veganism for our health, the environment, and for the animals, so I understand.

Healthy and Delicious

I've been hearing about this place and saw it in fb right before they opened but it is so far away from us. We drove early from OC to LA to avoid traffic. Sure enough, the freeway was really good.

The owner was really nice and gave us a great service. He was also very informative in giving us ingredients of the crepe. Everything here is vegan, he says. Amazing! We tried the Parisienne and Breakfast Crepe with tempeh and salad. Both were YUMMY and we were both satisfied with the taste. We already decided to try the dessert crepe also before we ordered the savory crepes.

The savory crepe is made of buckwheat and the sweet crepe is the normal yellowish crepe kind (although no egg in this one since it is vegan). We both enjoyed our savory crepes. Then ordered the Apple Cinnamon Crepe with ice cream and split it. I think that 's the good way to do it for 2 people. Yummy also! Not to sweet but it is sweet enough with the ice cream. The food here is light and healthy. You'll feel full but the food doesn't weigh you down afterward. It is also so classy. Everything is since this is a French vegan place.

I love the decor and the paint color. It is so welcoming. There is a sofa to sit for people who have all day to enjoy coffee, crepes, and sweets. We felt comfortable and welcomed in this place.

The delicious dishes do not stop on crepes only. They have croissants, chocolate croissant, turnover, and other selection of decadent desserts such as Chocolate Fudge Cake, Chocolate Raspberry Sacher Torte, Carrot Cake, Tiramisu, Banana Chocolate Mille Feuille (don't ask me how to pronounce that), cupcakes, and truffles. You can eat light on crepe but continue with a latte and decadent desserts. We took home some of these desserts (hey, if you have to drive 40+ miles to get there, might as well splurge and take home something).

I would not recommend to take home the crepes unless you live only 5 minutes away. The crepes are better consumed right away after they are cooked.

They also provide juices and smoothies. We didn't have enough room to consume more but definitely will be back on weekends.

Pros: Delicious, Clean, Healthy

Cons: Too far from home, Traffic to get there

Yummy Food

I had read about this place on happycow and finally had the chance to stop in for lunch, January 2013. Here's my LA Vegan Crepe review.

It's a cute little cafe with nice vibe. The menu is primarily crepes and brunch-like food along with a beverages menu. My friend and I ordered some dishes to share, and we were very pleased with the food. Everything was delicious.

The savory crepes are made with a buckwheat mix flour, so they are brown on the outside. The sweet crepes are made with a white color flour and is lighter. We had one of each and both delightful. We also got a waffles plate served with a side of tofu scramble, and that was yummy, too.

Be warned that the food arrives slowly as it's made to order.

For desserts we took away a strawberry shortcake and a layered chocolate and banana napoleon cake--both good.

The prices are very reasonable for the good tasting food. The couple that run this place spoke French and English.

My only suggestion for improvement is that the kitchen needs better ventilation to let out the smoke.

Pros: friendly staff, delicious food, reasonable pricees

Cons: poor ventilation, slow food arrival

fantastic crepes

We stopped in for a late lunch and plan to return again soon! The service is attentive and friendly. We sat at the bar chairs overlooking the kitchen. Just watching them made us hungry! We started with lattes (surprised it was not called cafe au lait) and a breakfast crepe which was made with buckwheat and filled with tons of yummy savory goodies including potatoes on the side. We also got the campagnard sandwich which is a baguette filled with pate and dijon mustard. Both were excellent. For dessert, we ordered the sweet apple cinnamon crepe. It came with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream. Heaven! I can't wait to try more items on their menu. There is also free parking in the back. Please go support them.

Pros: crepes!!!, friendly attentive staff

Finally! An All-Vegan Crepe Restaurant!

I just ate at a fantastic new restaurant in Los Angeles bordering Beverly Hills called LA VEGAN CREPE. I have not eaten crepes since I was a child, so I had forgotten what crepes tasted like.

I was the first to arrive at the grand opening of the restaurant tonight, and was greeted by the very friendly Philippe, one of the restaurant owners. I first noticed the green painted walls which give the restaurant a very soothing feel. Philippe told me that he and his wife
Natacha are both vegan, and they had run a sandwich shop in Florida for 5 years. The French couple decided to move to LA recently to open up what I believe is the world's first all-vegan crepe restaurant.

Two fellow vegan friends and I ordered a number of dishes and shared all of them so that we could all taste what the restaurant has to offer. I have posted the pictures that I took. We ordered three crepes: The Italienne, Savoyarde, and Veggie Lovers Crepes, and a side of calamari. Their menu has both sweet and savory crepes, and we all felt like ordering the savory buckwheat crepes. Each crepe comes with a side salad.

All of the crepes were just delicious! How many restaurants do you know that mix 3 different flavors of vegan cheese in any dish? The Savoyarde had 3 flavors of vegan cheese (pepper jack, mozzarella, and cheddar) mixed in to one crepe! The crepes were perfectly spiced, and the textures were delightful. The vegan calamari with a side of special sauce was tasty.

I am going to have to go back to this restaurant to try their breakfast and their panini sandwiches. The menu was very limited tonight for the grand opening, but they did show me what their regular menu was going to look like, and a posted a picture of it.

This is the type of restaurant that meat eaters and vegans can both enjoy together. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, except perhaps to those who follow the McDougall diet.

I feel so privileged to have a restaurant that is this great just a 4 minute bike ride from where I live.
