10 out of 5 Stars - Edit
I really wish Happy Cow would let me rate La Salita higher. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in New Mexico. They have an expansive vegan menu and many veg substitutions for items on their regular menu. (HIGHLY recommend the stuffed sopapilla plate with refried beans AND impossible meat filling, smothered with green chile and vegan cheese). Their avocado rellenos are also super good, just not quite as filling. Their sides are also good, I love their rice. Their papas (potatoes) can be a little hit or miss, sometimes great, sometimes a little under seasoned. Their sopapillas are really good and CHEAP, as are their chips and salsa. The service is always great, super friendly staff, and super reasonable prices. A true gem in Albuquerque.

Amazing! - Edit
Visiting Albuquerque we finally found an amazing New Mexican restaurant that works for the whole family. Vegan options are found on a separate menu as well as by super friendly staff who knows the kitchen and ingredients. Gluten free options were also well explained so to find vegan and gluten free was a bonus! We enjoyed the food so much for lunch, we ordered take out for our dinner that night. Loved the blue corn enchilada and tamale as well as the vegan red and green chile. Many thanks to everyone there for this treasure!

Abundant vegan options for good, local, classic New Mexican dishes - Edit
This is the only place I know of in ABQ where you can get JUST EGG huevos rancheros (!!!), stuffed sopapillas, enchiladas, tacos, and more with a choice of Impossible or Not Turkey or beans, enchilada, with a choice of vegan cheese. There's even and avocado-stuffed relleno on the menu. When they bring your your side sopapilla, there's a choice of agave instead of honey. The beans and chile are vegan, so enjoy them without wondering about lard in the refried. This is a family-run restaurant that goes back to 1978, but their modern plant-based game is A+. They also do lots of charity work for local animal welfare causes. The NM food restaurant market in ABQ is very competitive, so restaurants don't last for decades unless the food is really good. They have a separate menu for vegan options to make it super-easy to order at the counter--and once you let them know you're vegan, they'll be prompting you with all of the right questions because they really care about getting it right and taking care of their customers with dietary restrictions.

What a surprise to find plant based options at this Mexican restaurant. Impossible hamburger option, vegan cheese, salsa, red and green Chile as well as beans are all plant based. Very friendly and helpful staff. Vegan cheese cake is also available! Will be back for green chili so delicious.

Fantastic - Edit
Authentic New Mexican food!! The green chile was a little watery but other than that it was super filling and flavorful. Don't miss out on the vegan chocolate cake with cheesecake. One of the best chocolate cakes i've ever tried! 5/5✨️

Fave in ABQ - Edit
I visited New Mexico to visit a friend and she took me to some incredible restaurants - but this was my favorite!! I had the vegan huevos rancheros with green chili. It was even better than I had expected. Many items there can be made vegan and gluten-free. The people who work there are super friendly and helpful.

Great vegan options - Edit
From my first experience with this place several years ago, I have to say that they have really stepped up their vegan game. They have a chalk board dedicated to all their vegan combos, a La carte and plates.

The vegan chile rellano and tacos were very good. Not the greatest vegan food, but great for when you are with a mixed group.

Tasty, authentic and lots of options - Edit
This place was bomb. So good. I got the avocado rellenos, which was a first for me. Basically fried green chiles topped with avocado. The batter is vegan and most all their sides. I got refried beans and rice on the side too. They have vegan desserts as well though we didn’t try any. My boyfriend said my vegan meal was WAY better than his non-vegan meal. Also the staff was super nice and accommodating. And everyone seemed to know what vegan meant.

Mixed results - Edit
My expectations, based on previous reviews, were not met. The Impossible enchiladas were flavorless. The red and green salsas didn’t have any heat. The papas tasted like pre-frozen cubes of potatoes. They don’t have a separate veg menu nor do they give chips and salsa with takeaway orders as previously reported.

Amazing vegan avocado chile rellenos - Edit
It's great that they have a seperate vegan section on their menu, but all you need to know is to order the Avocado Chile Rellenos (all rellenos are made with an eggless batter and you can request vegan cheese). Absolutely delicious!

Great vegan options - Don't expect healthy - Edit
A separate vegan menu to order from made it easy to decide. We pretty much ordered one of everything and it was super tasty. The waitstaff was very friendly and double checked that I ordered vegan cheese because I just started calling it "cheese" lately. The items that had vegan cheese were loaded with it, which is good or bad depending on how you look at it, and some menu items are fried. The red and green sauces were also really good.

Good sized vegan menu - Edit
Several great options available off a designated vegan menu, but I'll echo others who say go for the avocado rellenos! My non- vegan dad even preferred it over his traditional one. Both red and green chile are vegan, as are refried beans, whole beans, papas, nondairy cheese and eggless relleno batter.
