Best Salvadoran cart in Portland!

After doing a quick menu quiz to make sure there was no hidden animal products in the pupusa that I wanted. And let her know I’m deathly allergic to dairy.

Pros: Vegan option , Knows what vegan is , Good selection of vegan beers

Cons: Not 100% vegan , Closed on Tuesday

Vegan pupusas for the win!

They had bean, mushroom and zucchini available so I got one of each. My Mexican wife is a foodie who doesn't give compliments lightly, but she raved about these pupusas and insisted that I get more very soon!

My first meeting with pupusas

This was my first time trying pupusas, and my life has changed. I will try to eat as many pupusas as possible for the rest of my life.

Their pupusa was really good! I loved the soft chewy dough and warm flavorful insert. You can pick 3 ingredients for $3, and I picked bean, spinach, and mushroom. When I first picked 3 without bean, the chef advised me to include bean or cheese because it could taste too dry. The end result was really good. I also liked the side cabbage salad. It was sour but refreshing. Vegan friends, there are other vegan ingredients you can pick such as jalapeño, zucchini, loroco (a kind of flower), beets, etc.

One pupusa is size of a palm. I would need 2 or 3 for a meal. You can also get a set menu with one pupusas, rice and bean, and fried plantain for $8.

Pros: delicious pupusas, endless combination of vegan insert, friendly host

Cons: cart with outdoor seating, use of some disposables
