wow! when they said that the portions were good they meant that - Edit
What a delightful surprise driving cross country and finding such a low price but very nice Mexican restaurant. Yes, it serves primarily meat eaters however they did have a small selection of items on the menu in addition to a vegetarian quesadilla.
Read moreI couldn't eat all my food there was so much so I took it with me and ate it along the way.
The waiter also said that they would try to make any of the items mentioned on the menu vegetarian if you so requested it.
The beans and rice were fantastic and the flavor took it over the top!
When I drive through there again next year I'll be sure to stop along the way.

Pros: good portions. Great tasting...still, near the freeway, very inexpensive

Has gone down hill since previous reviews - Edit
Given the good reviews, I had high hopes. Maybe I'm spoiled but this was lack luster at best. Talk about UGLY food too. The salsa was good so I have to give them credit there. The fajitas was just onion, pepper and a few tomatoes, even though they list all kinds of veggies in the description, I didn't get them.

Cons: Not great., Food served is different than description.

Suprisingly Good Options - Edit
Stopped for dinner while passing through on a road trip and were pleased to find a vegetarian section on the menu. My husband had the fajitas, which he said had a good fajita flavor, and I had the bean burritos. Normally the burritos come with cheese sauce but I asked them to substitute a green sauce, which was yummy but might be bit spicy for someone not accustomed to spicy food. Their salsa had a good flavor but was not very spicy. They tend to put cheese an just about everything. My husband's side of beans came with cheese because we didn't think to tell them not to put cheese on them. It wasn't a problem for him, but if you are avoiding dairy be sure to explicitly ask that it not be put on anything. We both enjoyed our meals and plan to stop by again next time we are in the area.

Pleasantly Surprised - Edit
I decided to try this place out due a previous review left. I was a little skeptical though since that post was approximately two years old. I pulled in yesterday afternoon after a few hours of riding. The staff was super friendly, and my waiter spoke just enough enlish to get the job done. Usually with Mexican food you get a good indication of the quality of food from how good their salsa tastes. Their salsa is amazing, and the chips were served hot! They have a small vegetarian section which is easy to alter some items to vegan. I ended up getting vegetablle fajitas with tortillas and beans and rice, hold the cheese. They serve biblical portions, and even after walking in starving, I could only finish just over half of my food. The atmosphere was friendly and family oriented (lots of families there at lunchtime on Sunday)! I am stoked to find this place as I only live 15 minutes away and options are slim in this area!!!

La Pinata is the place to go in Mississippi - Edit
A one-day drive from Texas to Atlanta found us in Mississippi on a Sunday at dinner time. What to do? An iphone search found La Pinata with good reviews but no menu. We thought we might be able to negotiate a meal there. We were astonished to find a vegetarian section on the menu. We ordered vegetarian fajitas that included cauliflower, mushrooms, carrots, tomatoes, squash, bell peppers and onions. They came up with a meatless chili relleno -- not on the menu -- because my husband wanted one. Three of us ate for under $19 and left happy. And it was a nice place to eat. And it was a nice place to eat. There were hand carved and painted with images from Mexico, including a fair reference to Diego Rivera. The stop was a far bigger success than we ever expected. Go there.
