Very average food. - Edit
Very average food. The place is run by authentic Italians but the food was not very great. The prices are quite high because it’s York but you don’t get quality in return. The drinks are a minimum of £7 also. The music is super loud and people have to scream to have a conversation. The waiter will also burst into opera singing at any moment. We tried the ravioli and the mushroom pizza. My family had a meat pizza and cheese salad and it wasn’t great either. Do not bother.

Worth a try, potential - Edit
A dedicated vegan menu is great and the bruschetta is nice and the fungi calzone is too. The risotto is dreadful and they didn't charge for it, apparently it's the saffron so if you like risotto they would recommend ordering it without the saffron. The creamy mushroom starter wasn't anything special. The staff were nice the building is lovely but the music was pretty bad, think butlins masquerading as Hilton. One of the male waiters bursts into operatic song now and again which was really toe curling but hey, you might like it, you weirdo. Worth a try.

From-scratch food, tasty pizza - Edit
A friend took me here on a visit to York, the restaurant is in a historic half-timbered building in York's famous lanes. I was expecting not much of a vegan option from a traditional Italian restaurant however I could not have been more wrong. Full vegan menu (which I didn't have to ask for), several starters and mains plus two deserts. I opted for starter of arrancine on a bed of tomato sauce - immediately obvious this is a "from scratch " place, oozing flavour and taste, delicious. Margherita Pizza was gentle and flavoursome, no harshness and decently substantial (really good!). Was very full at this point so thought I'd just have sorbet and became overjoyed to discover this is your actual "made here by a real-life Italian who loves his Mamma" and I could have eaten it all day. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the vegan menu, and the Chef came for a chat. Wish I lived in York!
