Fantastic - Edit
I ordered the pancakes and a variety of pastries with a coffee. Pancakes were delicious, not sure why they car called biscoff and strawberry pancakes as they don’t have any biscoff rather they have a butterscotch sauce which was way too sweet. Pastries are good however they are covered in extra sugar which is totally unnecessary. Coffee was also very good

Favorite restaurant in Kl - Edit
Best vegan croissants ever!! The Pain Au Chocolat and cinnamon bun was so fresh and straight out of the oven. We went here practically everyday it was just too delicious! The hardest part was choosing what to order because everything was amazing. I highly recommend this cafe seriously the best vegan restaurant in KL😊 also don’t skip out on the sunny days bagel or pizza both were outstanding!

Located in Chinatown - Edit
I saw on Happy Cow’s Instagram that this place serves one of the best vegan croissants, so of course, I had to try it – and it did not disappoint! The croissant was delicious, not overly sweet, with just the right balance. The breakfast selection was amazing and super creative; I could’ve happily tried everything on the menu. The decor was also very cool and added to the unique vibe of the place. I just wish we had a restaurant like this in Germany.

Disappointing - Edit
After an amazing meal at The Hungry Tapir, we decided to go to La Gula the next day for lunch. I am a hater of vegan cheese so I ordered one of the few menu items which didn’t mention containing fake cheese: Mr Rodrigo’s Deli, a ‘pastrami’ sandwich which said it came with “pickled red onions, mustard and gherkins”. Unfortunately what arrived contained a lot of vegan mayo, slabs of fake cheese and a very unappetising blue-dyed sauce. I picked out the pastrami pieces and left the rest. We also ordered a side of shoestring fries but they hadn’t arrived by the time we had finished eating and were ready to leave, so we had to ask for them to be removed from the bill (bearing in mind it was lunchtime and they weren’t especially busy). To drink I had the green juice which was unexpectedly small and some of which spilled due to the table being very wobbly.

Delicious Brunch - Edit
We came here earlier in our Malaysia trip and decided to return for another brunch.
Read moreMy partner had the rendang croissant and really enjoyed it. The rendang had loads of mushrooms and the sauce was creamy and flavoursome. The croissant was flaky and crisp on the outside.
I had the sunny days bagel, which contained a fried egg, ham, and cream cheese. I was worried the cream cheese might be a little sweet, but it wasn't at all and didn't overpower the other flavours. The meaty slices were excellent. I loved the texture of the egg, but wish it had a yolk and an eggy taste. It felt like it only really contributed to the texture. It was really delicious and I only wish it had been bigger!
My partner had a mocktail, the cranberries, which he really enjoyed, it was fizzy, fruity, and sweet. I had the oat of this world smoothie, which is thick and tasty but could have been a bit colder.
I also had a slice of chocolate mousse cake, which was basically a chocolate cheesecake. It was rich and delicious! I wish the biscuit base had been a little thicker, but no real complaints.
The music was too loud, at one point it felt like the bass was reverberating through my body. It's not the experience I'm looking for at lunchtime! Besides that, service is great and it's a really light and airy spot.

Tasty food with lots of options - Edit
For breakfast I had the see-food sambol croissant. This had bits of mock prawns and konjac squid that were coated in batter and in a sweet and spicy sauce. This was all stuffed into a heated sliced croissant. It was an enjoyable dish, I liked the textures of the mock sea food but I didn't think there was a huge difference between the two. The croissant was good and flaky and a bit sweet. The whole thing was very tasty but just a touch too sweet.
Read moreMy partner got the LaGula big brekkie and it lived up to its name. The sausage was excellent, it was well fried with a good crispness to the outside and was delicious and meaty. The ricotta cheez we think was in a square croquette form and tasted very much like a smooth potato filling (it was tasty). The scramble was pleasant, not particularly eggy but it had a good texture and taste. The mushrooms were good, they were well cooked and seasoned. The beans didn't really work very well, they were very heavily flavoured with dill and that didn't really fit with that rest of the dish.
The oat of this world smoothies were delicious. They were really thick and sweet and felt like quite a decadent treat.
Takeaway... The no bacon or egg pie was the highlight. It was a big hearty slice generously filled with lots of pastrami and cooked onions, we didn't really get much of an eggy flavour or texture to it though. It's a shame we had it cold as I'd really like to have seen how it was when warm and a bit crispier.
The Cheez sausage with croissant probably would have been better if heated too. The sausage was tasty but there didn't seem like much cheese, maybe on heating and melting it would have seemed more plentiful. This was tasty but the filling was just concentrated down the centre so most of it was just plain croissant. Maybe it would have been better to be sliced and have the sausages put in more like a sandwich.
The biscoff croissant was good. The croissant is well made and flavoured and it was sliced and filled with a layer of biscoff spread. The almond croissant was similar, it had a sweet almond spread on top and inside along with lots of flaked almonds - it was a bit too sweet.
The pain au chocolat was too bready and didn't have a good pastry texture. There wasn't a lot of chocolate filling so most of it was very dry. The cinnamon bun wasn't great. It could have been a bit flakier or crispier but it was all very soft. The flavour of the filling had a bit of a strange taste so it didn't work for me.
Cons: Offers breakfast but doesn't open until 10am

You must go here if you’re in KL!😌 We had an amazing dinner here once when they had a salsa night. I think it was still in Ramadan, so we had a special dinner. The food was really fresh and tasty and the vegan rendang was insane!🤤 We only didn’t like the vegan shrimp.

A bit disappointing - Edit
We went there with maybe too high expectations, and we were a bit disappointed.
Read moreVery nice atmosphere and place, but dishes not really tasty.
Everything was fried and had the same taste, was really difficult to distinguish between tofu fried, tempeh fried, and everything else fried..
Probably we made bad choices on the menu, anyway staff was kind and helpful for anything we asked!

Delicious food - Edit
Absolutely delicious vegan food, upset that we will not have time to visit again, the mushroom rendang croissant was spot on. My sons had the breakfast bagel and I’ve no idea how they make their vegan eggs but it was highly impressive. Great range of juices and the restaurant/cafe itself was beautiful. Waiting staff very attentive and friendly.

I'm so glad that this restaurant exist! After some weeks in Malaysia without vegan restaurants and a vegan mindset are we finally back in KL and have a whole vegan menu what makes me so happy!
Read moreThe restaurant is also very pretty with very friendly staff. Yes, it's definitely more expensive but the food tastes very good and it's worth it.
We had the pancakes (a dream) and the avocado bread (not that much avocado, but tasty) and carrot cake Berry chocolate cake.
The berry cake was a little bit to sweet for me though.
The only thing is that it isn't the fastest service.
