Serves meat, vegan options available. A cozy, bright, French and Argentinian restaurant which serves all locally sourced and many organic ingredients. The chef and owner, a native Argentinian, is the only cook in the kitchen and has created a menu consisting of appetizers, soups, salads, tamales, and empanadas, as well as a full wine, beer, tea, and espresso menu. Each section of the menu offers at least 2 or more vegetarian options that can easily be made vegan upon request. The tamales are also naturally gluten free as they are made with buckwheat batter. Note that the crepes are not vegan. Open Wed-Sat 11:00am-3:00pm, 5:00pm-9:00pm, Sun 10:00am-3:00pm. Closed Mon-Tue.

Mediocre - Edit
They have vegan options, but the quality is not great. Maybe their nonvegan food has better quality, don't know.

Good food but not much choice - Edit
I got the eggplant empanada and the mushroom tamale. Both were good but I’m not crazy about eggplants or mushrooms so it wasn’t my first choice. *we ordered 2 empanadas and 2 tamales but I put the two vegan options on my plate

Misleading Reviews - Edit
Got here early and were the first people in the restaurant right at open. Reviews here were misleading, I guess since they're older. I initially came for the french onion soup I'd seen pictured here. But the bread and crepes both contain eggs which means french onion soup is only vegan if you get no cheese or bread. I wasn't interested in the soup without bread. I ended up settling for the only non-salad vegan options- an eggplant empanada and a mushroom tamale. My non-vegan partner ordered something and then we were told they had none (they had just opened for dinner). So he also settled for something else.
Read moreThe tamale was alright. Empanada was a bit flavorless in my opinion. My partner said his crepe was decent but no where near as good as Penny Path, which has locations in Winston-Salem and Blowing Rock. He also did not ask for egg and they put it on the crepe anyway (and charged us for it). I would not recommend this place. I don't plan on coming back when there's places with a lot more vegan options available in the area.

Great food, nice atmosphere - Edit
I enjoyed my lunch. I got one empanada and one tamale with mixed greens salad. We sat on the sun porch, which was cozy on a breezy day.

We ordered takeout in the time of Covid. The tamales were delicious, mole sauce very good. Will definitely visit when we can linger in this adorable restaurant.

Off the beaten path and surprisingly wonderful - Edit
Finding a good, authentic tamale has been a nearly impossible quest for me till now! I enjoyed a vegan tamale and a vegetarian tamale, both delicious. My husband had two veggie empanadas and enjoyed them as well. Restaurant is off the main roads of Black Mountain in a funky looking house. Don’t be put off by the exterior. Quaint and cozy inside with wonderful service. We will visit here again and again.
Read moreThe menu is french and latin inspired, so if you enjoy crepes, I’m sure they are delicious as well.
Pros: authentic tamales - vegan and vegetarian
Cons: None

fabulous find outside Asheville, NC (Black Mountain, NC) - Edit
Happy Cow won’t let me give 5 stars because it isn’t 100% Veg, but this place is very accommodating to the VEGAN lifestyle.
Read moreI’m here in the Winter. The outside patio is closed so there are only 6-8 table available.
The outside looks sketchy, but inside is friendly and cozy.
The food and service are fabulous. My partner is having mushroom tamales and I’m having vegan French onion soup. The flavors are authentic Argentinian and freshly made in house.
I cannot say enough good things about this place and the service.
Pros: these people understand what vegan means.
Cons: only 6-8 tables in the Winter

cute local joint. great service. vegan crepes! - Edit
The chef has a vegan crepe and empanada recipe so most of the menu items can be made vegan, which was great. My husband very much enjoyed the regular chicken empanada and I had a vegan ratatouille crepe and it was delish! The local brown ale was soooo good too! :). Service was great and when they were out of what I really wanted they accommodated me well. And the patio... is so cute!
