Tasty vegan pasta

My family and I (all vegan) really enjoyed dinner here. There was only one option marked vegan on the menu, but it was a very tasty pasta with tomato-based sauce and lots of vegetables which we all enjoyed. They also had a vegan raspberry sorbet for dessert. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was very cosy in a nice old building. In future it would be great to have more vegan options on the menu!

Try to find somewhere else to eat

We were encouraged by the one review for this place on Happy Cow, but unfortunately they were not as accommodating on our visit. They would not modify one of the pastas for us. We asked for a vegan version of the bruschetta for entree, which the waitress said was fine. We waited a really long time for it to come out (we also waited a really long time for them to take our order in the first place, even though there are not many customers here), but then they brought us the normal non-vegan version with ham and cheese. We reminded them that we had ordered a vegan version, and they apologised and said they'd made another one really quickly. Well... we again waited quite a while, and then eventually the waitress came back and said "are you sure you want the vegan version, because then all it is is tomato and bread". So we declined. All we had was the vegan pasta, which took an hour to come out. The vegan pasta is the only vegan item on their menu. As an aside - we asked if we could modify one of the pastas to be with penne, and they didn't know what penne was... I then googled penne and showed them a photo, and they said "oh, I don't think we have that". A bit strange for an Italian restaurant?

Italian restaurant in centre of Tromso

Very friendly staff who offered to modify dishes to make them vegan. We swapped spaghetti for penne with their tomato and chilli (arrabiata) sauce, had the vegan pasta of the day (roast vegetables) and a pizza without the cheese but loads of vegetables as toppings. The Bruschetta starter also very good.

Pros: Friendly staff, Meat & fish options for my friends , Central Tromso buzzy vibe
