A must stop! - Edit
This is a must stop on your Playa adventure. The place is a little off of where the map takes you but keep looking. If you can’t find it ask the staff at the restaurant called Amate38, it’s the same owner and they will get you there. It’s very close to that restaurant. The nicest staff and best environment around. Ask to sit in the back it’s beautiful. Their is an entire page for vegans. The food is excellent and your plate is packed.

The price is definitely the cheapest around the area

Excellent vegan options, great atmosphere - Edit
This place is really fantastic, with a large vegan section of the menu and an authentic vibe. A lot of times when traveling I feel tension between vegan-friendly spots that are clearly for tourists and the local spots that don’t understand veganism. This place feels authentic (while still heavily catering to tourists; it is the Maya Riviera after all) but is clear on what is and is not vegan and can help you navigate the non-vegan pages of the menu as well if you have questions about something that looks vegan if you remove an ingredient.
Read moreMy enchiladas were excellent and we got a pumpkin seed dip that was unbearably good. My non-vegan dining partner also got vegan enchiladas because the non-vegan menu was meat-heavy and enjoyed them tremendously. We tried both the mushrooms and nopalitos and both were excellent.
The service was a little slow but the drinks were slow and the vibe good enough that the wait wasn’t a problem. There was a 20-40 minute wait for a table—this place is profiled in Lonely Planet, so it gets busy—but there’s a cute bar next door where you can get a drink, and which has a few vegan snacks to tide you over as you wait.

What we needed - Edit
This place was such a good find. The outdoor terrace was such a calming Oasis in the middle of tourist central, but you could still hear the live bands from across the street. I waitress explained everything in Spanish then in English and gave us her recommendations from both the meat and the vegan menu. I ordered the enchiladas with mole sauce as per her recommendation, and some tostadas to start. The food was fantastic, for my boyfriend not too spicy, for me I added habanero sauce and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Typical Mexican food with great vegan options - Edit
Would give 5 stars if possible. They have a whole menu page with vegan options of great typical Mexican food. For some meals you have different sauces and fillings to choose from. The restaurant is also really lovely and nice to sit outside in the garden.

Amazing vegan enchiladas - Edit
Stumbled on this place and was so happy to see a whole of vegan options. I couldn't decide! Went for the enchiladas and the wait said he could bring me one of each: mushroom, cactus plant and a type of spinach. It was amazing! Incredibly beautiful place and service was fab.

Amazing atmosphere - Edit
This place has the best atmosphere out of anywhere we ate in Playa. Super jungly and the whole street has that vibe. The food came out very fast. They have a vegan menu which is great. We had the yucca chips dipped in the pumpkin purée dish. Was unique and yummy. I had the tostadas which were great. It’s nice to have Mexican vegan food when in Mexico.

Había leído que este sitio tenía en la carta una página entera de platos veganos (hurra!). Llegamos al lugar, tranquilo, bonito y además, como decía, tenia muchos platos veganos! Pero el staff poco lejos de ser amable, casi nos echa del local. Todo prisas, para tomar nota, para retirar platos, para traer la cuenta… si nos quitaron los vasos con la bebida casi sin terminar.

The food was ok. The place is nice as well. What I thought was appalling was the fact that they come around offering some sort of pound cake acting like it’s complimentary and then they charge you for it in the end. The lady that was in front of me a white american female had the same issue and complained to the cashier. She got the items removed from her tab. When I asked that the same thing be done to my bill they refused. Not only did they refuse but they found the manager who then proceeded to scream at me that. “They are a business and they do not gift absolutely anything”. He said this to me over and over again about 3 times. He was clearly upset. He then yelled at the staff for taking the food off the other lady’s bill and said that the waiter would have to pay out of his salary. That was enough to turn my stomach around. It’s such a nice “green” “eco” place but by the manager’s treatment to the staff and myself I can tell that their values are no where to be found! I honestly believe he treated me this way because I am a woman of color! NEVER AGAIN will I visit this place! Please be advised.

Nosotros pensando que eran cortesía de la casa. (Como en 100% natural) tomamos dos para luego ver que los habían cobrado. Una señora blanca americana que estaba en la fila para pagar se estaba quejando de esto y pues pa cajera se lo retiró de su cuenta. Cuando le pedí que hicieran lo mismo con mi cuenta se rehusó y buscaron al manager. El manager procedió a GRITARME que “esto es un negocio acá no se regala absolutamente nada!” Me lo gritó en la cara tres veces. Estaba muy molesto. Cuando le dije que a la señora de en frente de mi le habían quitado de su cuenta empezó a gritarle a su staff. Les dijo que no tenían que haber echo eso y que el pobre mesero iba a tener que pagarlos de su sueldo. Esto fue suficiente para revolverme el estómago. 🤢 El ambiente del lugar es muy verde y “ecológico” pero a leguas se nota que no comparten estos valores. Sinceramente pienso que me trataron de esta manera por ser una mujer de color. Más nunca visitare este “negocio”. Por favor tengan cuidado!

Excellent food, atmosphere and service! - Edit
Absolutely our favorite place of all the places we ate in the area! The waiter told me about a vegan stuffed poblano entree and said it was large enough for two people. My husband and I ordered it and our friends (who eat meat) did as well. It was fantastic!! They even split the entrees for us before bringing it out. We also ordered pico and guac and both were excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant!

And a great atmosphere. Even though it is right off 5th avenue it is in an area with way more trees and vegetation giving it a much cooler environment than most of the nearby busy restaurants. A vegan place that actually serves booze too!!
