Would return to try the vegan menu - Edit
Well cooked pasta, good Italian cheeses. Would return to try their vegan menu as I didn't know they had one until seeing reviews on here.

Plenty of vegan options, but wasn't anything special - Edit
It was nice to see an Independent Italian restaurant with a separate vegan menu, which had a good variety of options as well. The dishes all sounded nice, however the pumkin barley risotto I got didn't have much flavour at all, suggesting they may not be very experienced with vegan cooking. Furthermore, they didn't appear to have any vegan cheese, but hadn't substituted something in instead, meaning many of the dishes would probably be quite bland and/or dry. Despite this, the prices were still pretty much the same as the normal menu, meaning the vegan options didn't seem like very good value for money. However, the staff were very attentive & the service was quite fast, so it's viable option for a meal out with non-vegan family/friends.

Deserves a five star rating - Edit
If Happy Cow rules allowed, I would award La Cucina 5 stars, but the rules don’t, as the restaurant is not exclusively vegetarian/vegan, so please consider “4 is the new 5”
Read moreThis was the first time my wife and I had visited La Cucina and we were accompanied by friends. It won’t be the last time we dine here! The service was superb, the staff dealt with our orders with commendable attention to detail (involving carefully listening to and acting on special dietary requirements, plus modifying a couple of dishes to our preferences), the food was excellent - delicious, generous portions, and even though the four of us all ordered different starters and main courses, not one of them was anything less than amazing - and the value for money gave no cause for complaint.
Highly recommended. I am in two minds about posting this review, because I wouldn’t want La Cucina to become so popular that it proved difficult to reserve a table, but if that happens then the staff will have earned it!
Pros: Plenty of vegetarian options, Plenty of gluten-free options, Happy to accept special requests
Cons: No., Can’t think of., Anything.

Separate vegan menu - Edit
First time I have been to an independent Italian restaurant with a large, separate vegan menu! I had the vegan chefs board for starter, and pasta with greens, olives, cherry tomatoes olive oil, and chilli for main. Both were lovely!
