In the tourist area of Kobe called Ijinkan, which is an old foreigner's colony and home to many Indian restaurants, but most of them are not veg. This restaurant is completely vegetarian. Offers just one curry set at lunch and one at dinner. Open Tue-Sun 11:00am-2:30pm, 5:00pm-8:00pm. Closed Mon.

Simple great veg fresh meal - Edit
Updating review on my 2nd visit. Food is fresh, tasty,, thali comes with salad, chai and appetizer. Simple but tasty. Good seating and service. Good value. Can accommodate vegan or gluten free restrictions. Limited menu. Food can be oily and heavy. Since my last visit, the quality of food seems to have gone down.

Home cooking that is affordable - Edit
Love the food. My favorite place to eat out in Hyogo Prefecture. It is a family-run establishment, small and cheap, nothing fancy.
Read morePros: Authentic cuisine, Not too much oil, Did not put sugar anywhere
Cons: A little salty for me, The staff didn't come across as friendly (yet are), A little bit of a walk from the station

Nice place - Edit
I really liked this place. They do a set meal where you get a small salad, a couple of samosa, three small curries, rice, roti and a cup of chai at the end. I'm practically rolling out. I little pricier than what I usually spend on dinner (1200) but it was a nice experience. A little bit of ghee on the roti and a bit more kick in one of the curries would've made it 5 stars.
Read moreVegans: one of the curries had paneer and yoghurt in, the salad had a dressing on and chai has milk in. Staff speak English so just explain your needs.

pleasant and good - Edit
Had the lunch menu. Really liked the small starter salad and the green pepper orange (?) sauce. It left me wanting a little bit more food, but we still got a lot of value.

Be Patient - Edit
I walked in, explained that I was vegan and asked if they could accommodate me. At first, the lady said “no, I’m afraid we can only do vegetarian”. Then, I heard another woman’s voice speaking in Hindi (?) and the lady began to ask me questions. After a bit of back and forth between me, the lady and the voice, we were able to reach a compromise. The food was really good! I had samosas, three curries, chapati, and rice. A good value at ¥1200. The restaurant seems to be a family-run operation: the voice later turned out to what I supposed to be the mother of the lady I was speaking to. Although it took a little while for them to warm up, the service experience, in the end, was very enjoyable. I’d definitely go back the next time I’m in Kobe.

Difficult to rate - Edit
I told the chef I was vegan and asked which curry I should choose (I'm not a vegan but wanted to know if they can serve vegan food). He recommended me the spinach and cheese curry. I'm not sure he understood veganism. Foods are good, but make sure you clarify what you don't eat.

Good, cheap lunch set in quiet atmosphere - Edit
We went there in hopes of getting a decent Indian lunch and in terms of food, this place does not disappoint. The owner was kind of unfriendly or shy, she did not greet us when we went in and just proceeded to serve us water and then the menu. She did not even speak a word until the first plate. Unfortunately, I therefore did not manage to ask for a vegan version of the food in time (so I don't know if available), but the only animal products I spotted were milk in the chai and maybe the salad dressing.
Read moreThe food was a lot, but very tasty and they serve extra chapati for free if needed. Absolutely no complaints here.
Cannot agree to the other review calling the place dirty. It was not very fancy (also no background music), but it was definitely clean, especially the bathroom was a nice surprise.
Can recommend overall for an affordable and tasty meal.
Pros: Really good food, Cheap
Cons: Somewhat unfriendly

Basically a sad story-owner lost his main restaurant in a fire with no insurance...is now running this restaurant out of his spice store. Food is I suspect exactly what the family had for supper. Food was good, totally vegetarian///but ambiance dirty enough to put people off

Little bit of India in Kobe!! - Edit
Located in famous slope to the mountain, Hunter zaka. The curry was soooo good I loved it! They also sells Indian spices and beans at very good price, also you can take curry or samosa home!
