15 course omakase - Edit
The service was really good and the 15 course omakase is offered for a great price. Do the math, $95 for 15 plates of high quality food = amazing. I loved the crispy avocado rice dish, the coconut cream Japanese risotto, crab hand roll, and the miso brownie. The watermelon nigiri and other nigiris were my least favorite out of everything, but all of the food was enjoyable. This is an easy 5 stars and the best food I've had in LA.

Phenom Vegan Sushi - Edit
Exec chef and owner Pearl Steffie is creating phenomenal plant based sushi and more at Kusaki. Tucked away in a strip mall shared with a 7-11, Kusaki is a stunning Zen oasis in busy West LA. Started with the fried green beans which are charred, garlicky and addictive. Of the four nigiri that we tried, the tuna and salmon were the standouts. Followed by the yellowtail. The spicy tuna maki is an exact replica of the fish version. And the seasonal crispy crab roll tastes like crab! How do they do it?! "Dessert" was the "wagyu" yakitori skewers. Unreal!!!! Great Japanese beer selection as well as sake. Service is extra special. We will be back a lot to enjoy this amazing place.

Great vegan sushi (and burger too!) - Edit
Though this place is a pricey, the sushi is excellent! Among the best, vegan sushi I’ve had, and certainly better than plant-based sushi at most restaurants. The mushroom burger is also a top choice, very good!

Best Vegan in LA, IMHO - Edit
They are very accommodating to our gluten intolerant requirement. This was our 4th visit to our favorite all vegan LA restaurant. We favor the omakase (chef’s choice) over ala carte b/c we get a bird’s eye view of the creativity/artistry that goes into making each dish. Expect your dining experience for omakase to be about 2 hours – quality and art takes time. It was Chef Pearl’s night off but this gave a chance to get to know Pablo and “Happy” better. Both were super friendly, knowledgeable and most of all, entertaining! As always, we had a wonderful experience.

Tasty - Edit
The "fish" nigiri were ok but the rest of the food was excellent. Green bean and crispy rice apps were great and we had a pair of beautifully made rolls. Attentive and friendly service. Would recommend.

Beautiful & tasty! - Edit
The restaurant itself is very nice, perfect for a special occasion! Service is decent overall; I’ve been 3 times and it can be a little slow.
Read moreOmakase is $70 for 5 courses or $90 for 7, we did the 5 courses. I wasn’t too full but it was a good way to taste many things, the menu for table service is a little overwhelming so I recommend omakase for first-timers.
My favorite items have been the smash burger, wonton appetizer, the eggplant nigiri, bell pepper nigiri, & the unagi roll. The dessert is also always so good!
There is a parking lot but it’s shared with 7/11 so be prepared to park on the street nearby.
Pros: Lengthy menu, Flavorful, Classy

Fantastic food - Edit
Absolutely fantastic food. Loved the miso eggplant Nigiri and dragon roll. My 6yr old asked to order more dragon roll. Portobello fries were a bit oily for my liking : but others on the table enjoyed it. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. Budget $30-50 per person

Fav vegan spot in LA! - Edit
I have tried vegan restaurants all around LA and Kusaki has by far been my favorite. If you are in need of plant based sushi then this is the best spot for it! Their crispy rice and nigiri are my favorites. The Philly roll was AMAZING! Friendly staff and they really care about the quality of food.

Disappointed - Edit
I got the five course omakase. Overall the food was okay; the novelty was cool but out of the five courses there was only one I sort of liked.
Read moreThe mushroom nigiri tasted like it had gone bad, the rice was too acidic, and overall it felt like everything was “pretty but not tasty” food.
The server also asked me to pay and tip while I was still finishing my dessert. It might be an okay first-time experience but I wouldn’t come again.

Fantastic & Delicious! 🤤 - Edit
Everything was utter perfection. Took husband here for Father’s Day. We did the Omakase Bar - we sat at the bar for a 7 course meal prepared by the chefs in front of us, all chef’s choice. Everything was amazing, delicious, and tasty. We were served appetizers, sushi, rolls, and dessert. Staff was friendly. Definitely want to come back.

Astounding! - Edit
Found out about this place from my foodie omnivore friend. Ate here last night with a party of nine, mostly omnivores. Everybody agreed the food was amazing, creative, and totally out of this world, including the senior citizen who never realized the food was vegan. Our favorite dishes were the sesame tofu and the mushroom burgers. Our server, Zach, was warm, efficient, and really great. If you can, visit this restaurant immediately because it will be massively popular once word gets out.

The best sushi restaurant in LA !? - Edit
I think so! I’ve been to Shojin and Ma-Kin and Kusaki definitely takes the cake for best sushi restaurant! I love all the veggie sushi and the mock meat sushi they have. It’s pretty pricey, but the quality definitely makes up for that. :)

my new fave date place! - Edit
i went here for my birthday with my partner and i loved it!
Read morevery dimly lit and cute dark interior which is perfect for a date night or moody celebration. it's a rarity that vegan restaurants are actually cute unfortunately but this one is very on point. like you wanna gram everything.
the wait staff was super nice, attentive, and knowledgeable.
the food was incredible. i love seeing so much creativity with vegan food. we ordered:
-avocado crispy rice: absolutely delicious, the zest of lemon intermingling was pleasantly unexpected. usually crispy rices that i've had are pretty bland.
-sailfish crudo sashimi: flavor was on point, my non vegan partner remarked that real sashimi melts on your tongue more but this is great as a cleverly made eco-conscious alternative
-salmon shiso sashimi: the sauces were delicious though this one wasn't our fave
-miso eggplant sushi: yum!
-the king sushi roll: this was my fave and you get 8 rolls
-the rainbow sushi roll: my partner's fave!
i also love their ceramics. all in all, my new fave upscale spot! i hope their bathroom is cute too-- i didn't get a chance to check it out.
limited parking out front & right next to 7/11.
there is an area that is surrounded by windows to sit or you can sit inside of that or call to reserve omakase a the bar. def want to try omakase!
Pros: all vegan!, gorgeous, moody interior, delicious sushi
Cons: limited parking out front
