Best food we had in Japan! - Edit
The food here was amazing. Every dinner and breakfast was a meticulously prepared multi-course degustation. It really was the highlight of staying here.

Vegan paradise - Edit
Overlooking the Iya river gorge, this friendly Eco -guesthouse has comfortable accommodations , Japanese style tatami rooms with futons , and delicious food. Vegan dinner and breakfast are included in the price, as well as daily pick up & drop off service at the local train station (Oboke) and a daily visit to an onsen at a nearby spa-hotel . The generous macrobiotic style meals featured local ingredients, such as buckwheat, radish and delicately flavored green tea from neighboring fields. The host Nori and many of the staff speak English--all are super-friendly. The views are spectacular and there are scenic & historic spots to visit for day trips, using a convenient day pass on a local bus. For guests who have had hectic travels, just strolling along the river, exploring the village and surrounding hilly streets, checking out the local products --tea, soba noodles, persimmons--might be enough tourism, combined with an onsen visit and relaxation in the welcoming common room, drinking tea or spring water, enjoying the views of steep, forested mountainsides at Kunelasob. There are private double rooms & a dorm , all futon bedding.
